Setting up new Mac and maybe using Migration Assistant
A family member is getting a new Mac. Since he is moving from an older OS to Sonoma, I've suggested he re-install all the apps from scratch, including 1Password. We were considering using Migration Assistant to migrate his user account, but I'm concerned that doing that will overwrite his ~/Library files. Doesn't 1P store stuff there? Will that cause any issues? Does anyone know? Thanks.

Hello @ajahn! 👋
Thanks for reaching out! I know that many customers use Migration Assistant to transfer files and apps to a new Mac. There is an issue where Touch ID unlock for 1Password might not work after using Migration Assistant, if that happens you can guide your family member through resetting the 1Password app on their new Mac:
- Make sure that they download and save a copy of their Emergency Kit.
- How to reset the 1Password app on a specific device
This post applies to 1Password 8 for Mac, if they're using an older version of the app then let me know. 🙂

Thanks for this info. I think we've decided to start from scratch and install all the applications. We can copy over the Documents and pictures, but not the Applications.
