Family account questions

Hello all, I've just signed up for the family account, so am going to need to make my family members 1Password involvement as seamless as possible. I'm wondering if they are going to need to enter the passphrase or use a passkey every time they want to sign in to use the vault? Are there shortcuts which are still safe? Things like staying signed in or being a recognized device seem risky to me. In any case, I'd appreciate any feedback on this, including helpful links in setting up and using a family account. Thanks. Also, does anybody back up their vaults somehow?

Your/their password is what encrypts your/their data. It will be required from time to time. A family membership works no different than a personal one.

Biometrics are an alternative to proving the password so often. Otherwise they will need to remember the password and supply it to unlock 1Password. Only that password can decrypt the data.

Recognized devices are devices where you have already supplied your Secret Key. Other wise you'll need to supply the Secret Key too.

    About your Secret Key

Thanks. Also, does anybody back up their vaults somehow?

Thank you once again. Sorry for the repetition. I didn't understand the posting and answering system. I thought anyone logged in here could provide answers to my questions, was hoping to get a variety of takes, experiences, and advice from a large pool of users.

  • Haha, you're all good. I'm just trying to keep everything together if at all possible. It helps us get folks quicker replies. The most important thing is ensuring you get the information you need. Carry on. :)
