Two-factor authentication for any website?
Hi,
I noticed that I only get the purple "Two-factor authentication" box where I can scan a QR code on certain websites. I would love to have this functionality for any website, not just the "approved" ones.
I'm a developer and I'm working on my own 2FA flow for my application, so the URL for my website is just my localhost. I have a QR code that I need to scan, but I just don't get that option at all. Even if I push my app to a staging site or even production, 1Password has no idea about my unknown application right now, so I just can't save my TOTP with 1Password.
Are there any plans to open this feature up to all websites? This limitation means I have to do my debugging in the Authy app, but I would love to use 1Password instead.
Thanks!

Hi @drewrawitz
You can add an OTP field inside any item. You just have to edit the item you want and add the corresponding field.

@tetardbleu Oh, jeez — I don't know how I missed that, I was only looking for that purple box. Thank you very much!

Hi @drewrawitz - @tetardbleu is correct, you can add a One-Time Password field to any item via
Edit > + Add More > One-Time Password
. The 1Password browser extension also allows you to add TOTP codes to your Login items without leaving your browser, you can follow the steps in the support guide linked below:☞ Use 1Password as an authenticator for sites with two-factor authentication
The purple "Two-factor authentication" alerts are from Watchtower and are based on a database of popular sites that are known to support 2FA.
Let me know if you have any questions. 🙂
