Unable to scan QR code

After signing in to 1password.com, I'm asked to for my Two Factor Authorization, and to setup an Authenticator App (my company doesn't have the physical security keys). Clicking that link gives me a QR code to scan and a code to type in if unable to scan.

On my iPhone, when I try to scan the code through the 1Password app, it doesn't scan. It also doesn't give me an option to type in the code, as the website says it would.

I know that the 1Password app on my phone has the right permissions, because I've been able to scan other QR codes with it, just to see if it was working. So it seems like there's something wrong with the QR code generated on 1Password.com

  • Hello @brwilliams! 👋

Thank you for reaching out! I wouldn't recommend saving your 2FA one-time password for your 1Password account inside of your 1Password account. That would be a little bit like storing the key to a safe inside of the safe itself.

Instead, I suggest that you use another authenticator app to save the one-time password. Some popular options are Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator. You can read more here: Turn on two-factor authentication for your 1Password account

Let me know if I misunderstood the situation. 🙂
