Multiple passkeys for the same account

Hi!

I apologise if this is already discussed before (I could not find it).

Currently, it appears that you can only add 1 passkey per account (item). If you need another passkey for the same account, you'd have to duplicate it and add the new passkey to that account. However, it would be useful to add multiple passkeys to the same account.

An example use-case is Amazon website. I am in India and I primarily use amazon.in. But sometimes I use amazon.com to send gifts to my friends living abroad. Both amazon.in and amazon.com share the same account, so I just have 1 1Password item with both domains, but they use separate passkeys (Amazon's requirement - turns out it creates a separate passkey for these domains and doesn't share them). So if I add a passkey for amazon.in, it replaces my amazon.com passkey and vice-versa.

I don't see a point in duplicating an item when everything else would remain the same, so adding multiple passkeys to the same item would be useful here.

  • Hello @hrishikeshk! 👋

Thank you for the feedback! While I can't make any promises, I've let the team know that passkeys saved for your Amazon account don't work across their various domains. The team will look into this and consider whether saving multiple passkeys in one login item is the best path forward here.

For the time being, I recommend that you save your passkeys in different login items. You can then link those login items together. It might also be worthwhile to send feedback to Amazon requesting that they allow you to use one passkey for all of their domains. 🙂
