Why is protocol (http/https) hidden?

I was having issues loading a URL for a Login, and couldn't figure out why it wasn't working. After a few minutes I realized it was because I had entered 'http' instead of 'https'. Part of what made this not immediately obvious is that 1P hides that part of the URL when the Login entry is in 'view' mode. I'm just curious as to why you guys chose to do that?

I am not one of the developers, but my guess is that it is a screen real estate thing. Especially on iPhone there is only so much room and displaying the protocol (which is identical for every login in most cases) would use unnecessary space. In my own use, I always save Logins using the browser extension on the desktop so that 1Password can learn not only the correct form field names for proper filling but also the correct URL.

As your post points out, though, there is certainly a use case for including the protocol. I'll mention it to the developers. Please let me know if there is anything else you'd like me to pass along. :)

    Thanks!
