FIDO2 key not working as second factor on Xperia 1 VI

I have received a new phone and am trying to login into 1Password. I have Yubikey Security Key configured as second factor. This setup worked fine on several Samsung phones, Pixel 8 Pro but it is not working on new Xperia 1 VI.

I downloaded 1password app from Google Play, scanned the setup code, entered the password and then what seems to be a system window with Google logo says that there are no passkeys available. There is an option to use another device, which I select, then select NFC. I scan Yubikey on the back on the phone and receive a message that it was successfully read. However the prompt in 1password remains and doesn't go away. If I click back on 1password logon, the process starts again by prompting that no passkeys are available.

I used screen recorder, but logon window of 1password is not visible. Although the rest of interactions is visible.

  • Hello @RossUA! 👋

I'm sorry that you're running into trouble when authenticating your 1Password account using a security key. It sounds like this is a known issue that our development team is investigating.

If you add an authenticator app as an additional MFA factor for your 1Password account, are you able to add your account using the one-time password from the authentication app? You can find steps here: Turn on two-factor authentication for your 1Password account

Hi Dave. Yes, I have done this right after I reported it here. The idea was to let you know about this issue, as I couldn't find it by searching the forum.

As for other compatibility issues with Xperia 1 VI, the app generally works, but often after you unlock 1password app, it doesn't insert credentials, so I have to repeat process few times.

As long as you are aware of the issue and working on it, I'm happy.

    Best regards,
    Ross

  • Hello, @RossUA. Thank you for reporting the issue. You mentioned:

When the issue occurs, does the 1Password for Android app freeze on a screen with the 1Password lock icon or a blank screen? If you tap the Back button in your system navigation bar or gesture Back to close the app, then attempt to autofill again, would autofill work on the second attempt?
