2FA code not working on old computer
I fired up an old windows 10 computer and tried to use the 1password app that was already there. It required a 2FA Code. I upgraded to the latest version but it still required 2FA. The only code I have from April 2020 did not work, so now I am stuck being unable to get the current 1P database of logins on my old computer.
I must say I am very confused by these password things...Secret Code, 2FA and PassKeys. My current Windows 11 computer does not ask me for the 2FA nor does it ask for a passkey (I tried to set them both up at some pont in time and don;t know if I was succesful or not, with no way to tell now.).
Can you help me get back to normalcy please? One ot the three password things should allow me to get my account back but I have not figured it all out.
1Password Version: 8.10.34
Extension Version: 2.24.2
OS Version: windows 10
Browser: chrome

I just discovered, or should I say REdiscovered, that I have an Authenticator app on my phone. I opened it up and put the code I saw there into the 1P on old computer and that worked (I think).
I have not used that since I installed it a very long time ago. Do I still need that? Is it doing me any goed? Do PassKeys eliminate the need for the Secret code, 2FA, and my 1P app login password?
Obviously I am confused by all this as I am definately not a security expert and hopelessly lost.

Is there any documentation that discusses all the various security codes in one document? I am talking about secret code, 2FA, App password, and Passkeys. This seems like an evolution of security codes from one to another to another, with Passkeys being the last and best incarnation. Why does that not replace all the rest of the codes? Maybe they have and I am living in the past. Are the others still required?

I am sorry to hear about the trouble with your two-factor authentication. When this occurs, it's often due to clock drift. Do you have your clock set to the correct time and date? Does it automatically update itself? If not, try enabling automatic updating. I like to use https://time.is to check my device time.
The principal reason a 2FA code doesn't work is that your computer's time is slightly off. 2FA codes are generated by your device using the current time, and they change about every thirty seconds. If your computer clock drifts/differs from the server, a wrong code will be generated. Another way to put it is with the clocks on your computer, and the server differs, and a mismatch in the 2FA codes occurs, resulting in an inability to log in.
Nowadays, most all devices set their time automatically. However, hiccups still happen. I have had to toggle my "Set time automatically" settings from On > Off > On. Please don't overlook this step. It has helped more folks than you can imagine.
My best thought based on your title you used of old computer is there was a discrepancy in the time. 1Password currently use a TOTP based 2FA code which is reliant on the time being correct.
