Kaspersky Registration in Brave - No option to generate masked email or password

I was trying to register with the https://my.kaspersky.com/ website.
The 1-Password extension is installed and has worked as I created my account for this website.
Normally, when I'm on a "register an account" page, I can use the Fastmail integration to generate a masked e-mail address, and I can also use 1-Password to generate a secure password.
Both of those were not given to me by 1-Password while on the register page. The extension icon in the email textbox said something like "no objects to display".
When I entered an email address, I was given the option to "save in 1-Password", but even that separate dialog that opened then didn't give me an option to generate a password or email.
I hope this issue can be fixed. There seem to be some username/email textboxes that aren't recognized as being a textbox for registering.

1Password Version: 8.10.35
Extension Version: 2.25.1
OS Version: Windows 10

  • Hello @honumael, thank you for reaching out.

I'm sorry about the problem you're running into with 1Password in the browser. I've tested the Kaspersky website on the registration page and haven't been able to recreate the same behaviour.

May I ask if the browser defaults to a language other than English for you? If there's an issue with a specific language, I can report it to our development team for further investigation.

    Hello @EvonG1P !
Thanks for the response. My browser is currently set to German, and the Kaspersky website is also in German. When I change the language of the Kaspersky website to English and then try to register, I receive the option to generate a masked email. It really seems to be a language issue.

  • You're very welcome. I appreciate the additional details, @honumael.

I can recreate the same problem if the page is in German. I've created an issue for our development team to look further into, and determine if we can improve how 1Password interprets this website.

In the meantime, I can suggest navigating to Fastmail's website to generate the masked email manually and using the Password Generator from the 1Password extension pop-over.

I realize this may not be ideal, and sincerely apologize for any interruption in your workflow caused by this issue.

Let me know if there's anything else I can help you with.

Thanks so much for your help, @EvonG1P !

There is one more thing you can help me with. I think it would be a great fail-safe for issues like these if the 1Password app allowed creating masked emails when in the manual "add a new login" mode. It could be an entry in the "previous usernames" dropdown that is available when setting a new username.

I don't know if this feature has already been requested, but if not, it would be great if it could be considered.

  • @honumael,

You're welcome! I appreciate the feedback. While I can't make any promises, I've passed along your feedback to our product team to add generating masked emails with the 1Password desktop app or the 1Password extension pop-over.

I hope that helps! Let me know if you have any questions.

    Hi @EvonG1P
I hope I'm not bothering you with this, but I have just found another site that has the same issue as I had previously with Kaspersk, so I thought I'd report that.
It's http://www.gutefrage.net (a German question/answer forum). I cannot generate an email address during registration.

And this site does not have an English version to get around the problem.

  • Hey @honumael. You're not bothering me at all; I'm happy to help.

I've created an issue for our development team to look further into and determine if we can improve the way 1Password interprets this specific site.

    Thank you for reporting this!
