Mac Safari - Buggy & Bad Experience

I think it's an issue with the extension more so than the standalone app. Getting the auto-fill prompts to show up is finicky and unreliable—a lot of times I can't even get it to show up. I never get prompted to save new passwords anymore, and so have to manually fill in details, which is so clunky. I've restarted my system and browser many times, and have likewise uninstalled and reinstalled both the extension and the app. This is all for my personal 1PW, and seems to be limited to Mac Safari. I have 1PW for teams for work, which I use with Chrome, and don't recall any such issues (though I use 1PW in a much more limited capacity for work). So I can appreciate this might be related to Safari APIs or whatever. Nevertheless, it sucks. A lot. Enough so that I would switch platforms.

While I like the security and a lot of individual parts of 1PW, I generally hate the experience of day-to-day use ever since the Electron transition.

This is mostly a rant, but I'm also wondering if anyone else has encountered these issues, and, if so, if there are steps I might take that could ultimate resolve these issues.

1Password Version: 8.10.34
Extension Version: 2.25.1
OS Version: macOS 14.5
Browser: Safari (Mac)

Count me in here too. Absolutely love 1PW and it works flawlessly with Brave and Chrome, which I don't want to use. I have to constantly restart Safari to keep 1PW working.

  • Hey @mrbrownjeremy, @mitchrc,

I'm sorry for the experience you are having with 1Password for Safari. Could you possibly recreate the behaviour you are seeing and then send over some logs so we can take a look at exactly what is happening and best advice on next steps?

I'd like to ask you to send over a console log from your browser as well as a diagnostics report:

Please attach the reports to an email message addressed to support+forum@1password.com with a link to this thread.

You should receive an automated reply from our BitBot assistant with a Support ID number. Please post that number here. Thanks very much!
