Auto-signin welcome, but why now and not then?

I'm glad 1Password now (once again) auto-signs in after an autofill (in other words, as if I'd clicked the "Login" button myself), but I'm curious why it's been enabled now, what was the reason to disable it a few years back, and what the difference is? Thanks!

  • Hello @LokiNYC! 👋

1Password in the browser is a brand new version of the browser extension that was written from scratch and first released a few years ago. Autosubmit was removed years ago from a previous version of the browser extension for technical reasons that related to how the submission action was implemented due to extension limitations that the team ran into in the past.

Advancements in web extension technology, and our team's use of it, have now allowed the team to develop a more robust and functional feature. 🙂
