Ive been using 1p for years and in the last - maybe year or so its just unbearable how slow it is. Its the slowest app by far on my macbook air m1 and not sure how to fix this. It feels like its maybe trying to access the internet on every open? if that's the case is there a way to disable that? Ive tried toggling hardware accel on/off, betas etc but nothing changes.

It can be anything really - searching will take a few seconds before it lets starts showing results. If I fill a form and it offers a password (like I just did for registering for this forum) - takes 5 seconds before it offers to save. Etc... Just tried to lookup the 1P version for this form and took 4 seconds for 1p window to appear, 3 seconds to finish loading and 3 more seconds after clicking about for it to show.

Any ideas? its ridiculous. - most stuff on my laptop is in the milliseconds to open.

  • Hello @cyberwombat! 👋

I'm sorry that 1Password is performing slowly on your Mac, that definitely doesn't sound right. Just to confirm: is the slowness occurring with the desktop app itself? Or with the browser extension? If it's the latter then which browser are you using?

Do you see the same slowness if you boot into Safe Mode: Start up your Mac in safe mode - Apple Support (CA)

I look forward to hearing from you.

@Dave_1P - tried safe mode - same result. It doesnt matter if browser or not - I often just all the app itself using Spotlight/app launcher. No matter the action (save a suggested password, load the about, etc) it seems to want to first load the app itself - when I look at it load it takes 4-7 seconds for the window to appear and the the 3 columns fill in slowly. Usually the right one (with whatever I looked at last) is immediate, then the left sidebar takes a couple seconds and then there is a spinning wheel in middle column as I wait for that to load for another 2 seconds or so. I tried turning off wifi to see if my slow connection could cause issue but didnt affect anything.

I am using a shared vault for work not sure if that affects things - I can disable it if needed though its a pain to reconnect and I do need it anyway long term.
