So @gvalatsos you are using 1Password Beta and the 1Password Safari extension (beta or regular?) with macOS 15 Sequoia beta and it all works fine, correct? Please confirm. Thanks.

Thanks for reaching out! I'm not running the beta version of macOS Sequoia myself but I do see a couple issues that our developers plan to get fixed before the official release. We're still in the early beta period, if you do try Sequoia and spot any issues then please let us know. πŸ™‚

Running 1Password beta with macOS Sequoia beta. No prob at first but now getting "The application '1Password.app' can’t be opened" when trying to launch the app or whenever I try to open the Safari browser extension from the menu. The Safari extension still seems to work β€” it just prompts the error, which has to be dismissed. However the app cannot be opened.

I'm sorry that you're unable to open 1Password on your Mac. Are you still seeing the issue with the latest beta version of macOS Sequoia?

If you are then can you try reinstalling 1Password:

    1. Quit all open web browsers.
    2. Right-click on the 1Password menubar icon and then click Quit. If you don't see 1Password in the menubar then skip this step.
    3. Drag 1Password from the Applications folder to the Trash. Do not use an "app cleaner" or "uninstaller" tool to remove the app or additional files. If prompted, enter the password you use to sign in to your Mac.
    4. Restart your Mac.
    5. Download the latest version of 1Password from the 1Password website.
    6. Quit any open web browsers and then install 1Password.
    7. Open and unlock 1Password before opening your web browser.

Let me know if that helps.

    UPDATE: I've been running macOS Sequoia 15.0 beta 6 (24A5320a), Safari 18.0 (20619.1.26.31.3), 1Password 1Password for Mac 8.10.40 (81040031,) and 1Password for Safari 2.27.1 (22700103) for a few days now.

So far no issues to report.

Sorry I didn't circle back to this β€”

I did find in the forums here re this issue, introduced with one of the nightly builds. Followed the instructions to reinstall (since the app couldn't open, it couldn't just update, so reinstallation was the only fix). The instructions were clear, quick, and resolved the problem.

1Password beta 8.10.40 81040031 now runs fine on latest macOS Sequoia beta 5 and Safari 18 (20619.1.24.11.2)

  • @FraserDon

I'm happy that those steps helped you resolve the issue. πŸ™‚
