Chrome extension "update is available" lock out persistently

This seems related to the issue raise on this thread that might have been fixed? https://1password.community/discussion/125313/1password-chrome-extension-keeps-getting-locked-because-an-update-is-available/

But on my work machine I have to enter my password basically every time I use Chrome. Work has disabled automatic Chrome updates, so I don't know if that has something to do with the issue. Potentially I always have a new version of Chrome sitting out there waiting for corporate it to enable the update.

  • Hello @zchrykng! 👋

    I'm sorry that you're constantly prompted to update Chrome on your Windows PC by 1Password. It sounds like you might be running into an issue that our development team is currently working to resolve. Can you try the following steps:

    1. Open & unlock the 1Password desktop app and leave it running in the background.
    2. Open Chrome and paste the following URL into the address bar: chrome://flags/#launch-windows-native-hosts-directly
    3. Click the menu for "Force Native Host Executables to Launch Directly" and choose Enabled.
    4. Click Relaunch to apply the feature flag.
    5. Restart your Windows PC.

    Do you still see the same message after restarting? Let me know.

    @Dave_1P: that worked perfectly! Thanks!

    I'm happy that the workaround helps! Hopefully a permanent fix, that doesn't require the workaround, is released in a future update soon.
