Chrome extension "update is available" lock out persistently
This seems related to the issue raise on this thread that might have been fixed? https://1password.community/discussion/125313/1password-chrome-extension-keeps-getting-locked-because-an-update-is-available/
But on my work machine I have to enter my password basically every time I use Chrome. Work has disabled automatic Chrome updates, so I don't know if that has something to do with the issue. Potentially I always have a new version of Chrome sitting out there waiting for corporate it to enable the update.

Hello @zchrykng! 👋
I'm sorry that you're constantly prompted to update Chrome on your Windows PC by 1Password. It sounds like you might be running into an issue that our development team is currently working to resolve. Can you try the following steps:
- Open & unlock the 1Password desktop app and leave it running in the background.
- Open Chrome and paste the following URL into the address bar:
chrome://flags/#launch-windows-native-hosts-directly
- Click the menu for "Force Native Host Executables to Launch Directly" and choose Enabled.
- Click Relaunch to apply the feature flag.
- Restart your Windows PC.
Do you still see the same message after restarting? Let me know.

This workaround doesn't seem to be available, unless I'm missing something. Steps 3-5 aren't on that web page. Is that where one would find them? Anyway, how about fixing this bug? It's not a feature.

Hello, @jong113. Thank you for writing in. I'm sorry you're running into a problem with 1Password in the browser.
Dave's steps regarding this issue are related to the Windows operating system. What specific problem are you experiencing with 1Password? Which device are you using? Any insights you can provide regarding your issue would be helpful. 🙂

MacOS 15.2 (but it was happening before the latest update), Chrome browser, 1Password extension. I'm getting the locked icon in the username and password boxes (probably after the computer wakes from sleep) but with Chrome still open. My account is set to not normally need the password. I get the message that "chrome has a new update available," which does normally trigger a fresh login, except Chrome is up to date and no update is available. Quitting Chrome and restarting it fixes it but that's not an acceptable solution. It's a bug that needs to be fixed.

I appreciate the additional details. You're running into a known issue where 1Password requests you to re-enter the account password because Chrome has an update available, even if Chrome is already up to date.
Our development team released a fix to the Nightly version of the 1Password extension. While I can't give an exact timeframe for the fix in Stable, I recommend keeping 1Password up to date so you can receive the fix as soon as possible. You can find the updates posted on our website:
Let me know if you have any questions.
