Prerequisite: 1Password is locked and the app is not open
1. In Chrome, go to a site that I want to sign in to
2. Cmd-. to bring up browser extension
3. Extension appears, as does Touch ID dialog
4. Supply fingerprint to Touch ID
5. See that 1Password now has focus, instead of the browser which I want to be focused

Workarounds:

  • Leave 1Password app open. This prevents it from stealing focus when unlocked. Can minimize or hide it (but can't close the window because that quits the app).
  • Cmd-tab back to the browser after supplying Touch ID

1Password Version: 1Password for Mac 8.10.36 (81036049)
Extension Version: 2.26.1
OS Version: 14.5 (23F79)
Browser: Chrome

  • Hello @sbleon! 👋

I'm sorry that you're running into issues with focus on your Mac. It sounds like you might need to allow 1Password to run in the background. Follow these steps:

    1. Open and unlock 1Password for Mac.
    2. Click on 1Password next to the  in the menu bar.
    3. Click Settings.
    4. Click General.
    5. Make sure that "Keep 1Password in the menu bar" is turned on.

Then, lock 1Password and try to reproduce the issue. Let me know if you still see the same issue.
