[icicibank.com] Unable to autofill password for ICICI Bank

edited August 3 in 1Password in the Browser

Since past few days, I am unable to auto-fill passwords for ICICI Bank login page. The password field get populated with "T" and not the actual password.

This caused me to get auto locked out due to submission of incorrect password for consecutive 3 times.

Subsequently i disabled auto-submission and checked the password that was getting filled and realized that it puts "T" in the password field. I even deleted the saved login and recreated the same. However the same behavior persists.

ICICI does not allow copy-paste of passwords and also I can't drag the password as the password field is hidden behind the 1password plugin dialog box. This is making my life miserable with using 1password for this website.

  • Hello @rpdesai! 👋

I'm sorry that your login credentials aren't being filled correctly into icicibank.com. It looks like that website is using javascript for some validation purposes that can conflict with 1Password's filling, an internal issue has been filed with our development team to investigate this further.

For the time being, this workaround should help:

    1. Edit your login item for icicibank.com using with the 1Password desktop app or 1Password.com.
    2. Click "+add more" and select "Text".
    3. Name the custom "Text" field AuthenticationFG.DUMMY_ACCESS_CODE and type your password here.
    4. Save the item.
    5. In your browser, click on the 1Password icon in your browser's toolbar.
    6. Find and click on the login item for icicibank.com.
    7. Click on the three dots in the upper right corner of the item's details and then click "Don't sign in automatically".

    Then, to fill your login:

    1. Open https://www.icicibank.com/, click Login and choose the correct login option.
    2. Fill your login information but don't click the Login button just yet.
    3. Click the eye button in the password field and note that your password wasn't correctly filled.
    4. Click on the User ID field again and click on the 1Password icon to expand the filling suggestion menu. Then click on the login suggestion to fill it again.

You'll now see the correct password filled on the second attempt. I know that this isn't the most elegant workaround but I hope that it helps for now until a permanent fix is developed.

    Hi Dave,

Sorry for piggyback on this thread, I am facing the same issue even after following your suggestion. I am using Mac and Google Chrome browser.

What I have observed is that after inspecting the elements, the id for password field what I am seeing is AuthenticationFG.ACCESS_CODE (not AuthenticationFG.DUMMY_ACCESS_CODE ). I have even added a custom text field AuthenticationFG.ACCESS_CODE in 1password and the issues remains.

If you want to see the exact page, go to www.icicibank.com then right most side you will see Login dropdown button, and select "Personal"

Any help will be highly appreciated

Thanks Dave for the workaround. I followed the steps mentioned by you and it worked for me.

Just one adjustment I had to make as follows.

After Step 10, I had to manually clear the password field to remove the bogus password that gets filled. Thereafter when I choose the correct login option in the user ID field, the password is filled correctly.

Thank you for sharing, I'm glad that the workaround helped.

    @sanjaymk

Can you try the additional adjustment mentioned here: https://1password.community/discussion/comment/715576/#Comment_715576

@Dave_1P I have removed the entry from password field in 1P as suggested and still hitting the issue. Basically the password is not getting autofilled.

I'm sorry that the workaround isn't working for you, it's not the most elegant or stable set of steps. Hopefully our development team can fix the issue in a future update soon.
