I can't seem to get my 2nd mac to upgrade.
I finally upgraded my Mac Studio from 1Password 6 and all is good. Now I'm trying it on my mac mini. I can't figure out how to activate the mac mini. It won't let me sign into my account. I copied a set up link to the mac mini and downloaded 1password 8 and it still wouldn't let me sign on.

Hello @abernardi! 👋
I'm sorry that you're running into issues when updating to 1Password 8 on your Mac Mini. Can you tell me a little more about what exactly isn't working? Do you see an error message? If you do then can you tell me what that error message is?
Do you see all of your items when you log in to your 1Password account on 1Password.com (in the browser, not the app)?
I look forward to hearing from you.

Hi Dave,
Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. I've tried two ways.
1 - From the Mac Mini using Firefox, I try to sign into 1Password.com and it asks for user name, secret key and password. I do that and get back:"We weren’t able to sign in to your account. Maybe there’s a typo? Check your sign-in details and try again.
If you were invited to 1Password by someone else, they can recover your account
(opens in a new tab)"2 - I installed 1Password 8 on the Mac Mini and got the same message when trying to register.

DOH! I got it. It was asking for my master password to unlock the program. I thought it was asking for my 1Password website password. It's all good now. THANKS!!!

I'm glad that we're making progress. With 1Password 8, you should only have one account password and one Secret Key. Your account password will unlock both the 1Password 8 app and 1Password.com.
Just to confirm: do you now see all of your items when you open 1Password 8 on both your Mac Mini and Mac Studio? Let me know if you need any other assistance. 🙂

Hi Dave,
Let me make sure I understand. You're saying the password to gain access to my passwords in 1password app at home should be the same password I use to log in to 1password.com? And I use a different one for 1password.community, right?0 -
Hi Dave,
I think I see everything, but there is a couple of strange things:When the little 1password window pops up under a login page, two windows pop up most of the time and sometime they're different colors and give different passwords. So obviously I still have an old password somewhere in 1password. But I'm having difficulty finding them.
When I log into 1password.com it shows I have two vaults. But I only had one. I labeled it personal and it's the default. It shows I have 1585 Items. The second one says it's an "Imported Default" and it only has 1475 items. I didn't import that. Or if I did, I didn't know it. It looks like the imported vault had nothing added to it between 4/23 and 5/24. And there are different entries in each one.
Is there a way to figure out what happened? I'm thinking I should open them both and merge them and then look for duplicates? Can you do that? I don't see a command for that.
Regards,
Adam

Thanks for the reply. You have one account password for your 1Password account (hence the name "1Password"). This account password unlocks both the app and 1Password.com in the browser.
Your forum account for 1Password.community is completely separate from your 1Password account and you should use a different password for your forum account. You can use 1Password to generate a strong and secure password for 1Password.community: Use the password generator to change and strengthen your passwords

The "Imported Default" vault was likely created as a result of 1Password 8's migration feature that is meant to detect and help you migrate any old standalone vaults that you might have on your device.
It sounds like you might have two different copies of 1Password on your Mac. So that I can investigate this further, and work on a solution, I'd like to ask you to create a diagnostics report from your Mac (use the instructions for 1Password 7 since that will provide me with information on previous installations of 1Password):
Sending Diagnostics Reports (Mac)
Attach the diagnostics to an email message addressed to
support+forum@1password.com
.With your email please include:
- A link to this thread: https://1password.community/discussion/147431/i-cant-seem-to-get-my-2nd-mac-to-upgrade
- Your forum username:
abernardi
- Please do not post your diagnostic report to the forum. This is for your privacy and security.
Please send the entire file.
You should receive an automated reply from our BitBot assistant with a Support ID number. Please post that number here. Thanks very much!

Hi Dave,
I couldn't send it to the address you gave me: support+forum@1password.com. My Outlook webmail said it was an invalid address. So I sent it to: support@1password.com. Will that work?0 -
I should also mention that when I was using 1Password6 I kept my vault in Dropbox.

That's odd we get mail everyday at that address. I'm not sure what happened there. Anyway, yes,
support@1password.com
will do the job just fine.0
