Manually selecting login field for 1Password to recognize?

Hello,
it's not often, but sometimes it happenes that 1Password doesnt recognize certain fields during registration.

I was wondering, why isnt it possible to manually tell 1Password how it should treat the field?
For example, if there is password field in registration form and 1Password doesnt recognize it, couldnt we just right click the field and select "save this field into 1Password as password field"?

Would it be technically possible?

Thanks.

  • Hello @oschif! 👋

Thank you for the question! It's not currently possible to designate a field as a password field on a website and I'm not sure how useful such a feature would be since you'll likely only register for a specific website once which would mean that you wouldn't need 1Password to remember that field as a password field. And the password field on that website's login page would differ from the registration page.

Let me know if I misunderstood the suggestion.

Are you able to share the website where 1Password doesn't recognize the password field? I can file issues with our development team to get that fixed. 🙂

I dont have specific example right now, sorry.
But you are right. It really doesnt make sense for registration page since you only register once.

Then maybe it would be at least useful for login page which is used multiple times?

Thank you for the suggestion! I've passed it along to the team.

If you do run into any specific examples then please let me know and I can file issues to have 1Password better identify fields on those pages. 🙂
