1Password locked, asking for password daily (or more)

For the past week or so, 1Password has been locked almost every time I use a website. That is, it has the "Unlock 1Password" icon and asks for the 1Password password (not the fingerprint). Happens pretty much every day or maybe more often (like when I leave the computer for several hours).

  • Hello @MRubenzahl! 👋

I'm sorry that 1Password is locking more often than expected and that Touch ID unlock isn't working. As a first step, update 1Password for Mac to version 8.10.40: How to keep 1Password up to date

    Then follow these steps:

    1. Close all open web browsers.
    2. Right-click on the 1Password icon at the top of your Mac's screen and then click Quit. Wait until the icon disappears.
    3. Double-click on 1Password from your Mac's Applications folder.
    4. Open your web browser.

If you still can't unlock 1Password in the browser using Touch ID after following these steps then can you tell me if you can unlock the desktop app itself?

Thank you, Dave. As it happens, the problem went away a day later, on its own. Nonetheless, I did the steps you suggested.

(The automatic update setting was on; not sure why it wasn't up to date.)

  • I'm happy that you're no longer seeing the issue. Let me know if it comes back and I can help further. 🙂
