Account-wide vault selection?

I have two vaults, a personal and work one, that I use on both work and personal computers. As far as I can tell there is no way to create a universal default save location for new items. That is to say, I have to go into the settings every instance of 1Password and every instance of 1P's browser extension to change where new items are saved. Is this accurate? Is there any way to save me from having to configure this on every single browser that I use?

You are correct. You'll need to change each instance of the application or the browser extension to the desired save location. There is no possibility to set it once and have it sync those settings across all instances.

Thanks @ag_tommy. Oof, that's a lot of default settings to change: every browser, every 1Password app, on both macOS and iOS devices?

I agree with you. I along with several others have filed feature request for shared settings that sync between devices. That said, there are some situations where this may not be desirable like while using a work browser. So I'd also like a way to say yeah, don't sync those settings here on just this one device.

I hope you don't mind, I'm going to take the liberty of adding your voice to that request. Perhaps someday we'll see this sort of feature.

Sorry, yes, I replied too quickly. All devices. Typically, I only need to set the settings once. The default is to your personal/private vault. So you might no need it during some situations.

You could opt to try a different approach. It may work for your needs.

Work device:

If you have a work account add it to the applications first. The default should be set to the work account. Then add the additional account.

Personal device:

Add the personal account to the applications first. The default should be set to that account. Then add the additional account.
