Windows 11 App: Opening a new tab in the app for an entry

Hello,

I have found that this was discussed and asked before. Having entries opened in a new tab.
I found the option in the Windows App to open an new window. However I missing, as I saw from an earlier version of 1Password app, to open an entry as 'a tab'. I like to have e.g. 2 or more entries open in 1Password app as tabs. Like you can do with browser tabbed pages.

I am missing something in the current version of the 1Password Windows App that I don't see this option to open entries as a tab in the app?

BTW:
I have the same issue on the browser also here opening an entry as a tab. I don't see that option either. Which in this case can be another browser tab per entry.

Brgds,

Bas.

1Password Version: 8.10.40

  • Hello @inetbas! 👋

Thank you for reaching out. Just to clarify, are you looking to open multiple views inside of the 1Password for Windows app itself? 1Password 8 for Windows has never supported tabs in that way. However you can open an item in a new window so that you can view multiple items at once by right-clicking on an item and selecting Open Item in New Window.

Does that provide you with the functionality that you're looking for? Let me know if I misunderstood.

Hello Dave @Dave_1P , thank you again for reaching out. To open in new Window functionality I am aware off. What I am looking having a next entry opened as tab. I store with some account entries extra info like further login steps, etc. Even for one customer I can have multiple entries for several environments or accounts. Having this in tabs next to each other is easier then resizing multiple windows on the same display to achieve the same. Let me know if it is clear to you. Brgds, Bas,

Thanks for the reply. I can see how tabs would help with that use case and I've filed a feature request on your behalf. Thank you for the feedback.

For the time being, have you considered using the web app instead? You can open 1Password.com in multiple browser tabs and then switch between them. 1Password.com is currently getting a big redesign to make it look and function more like the desktop app. You can find the web app by logging in to your 1Password account on 1Password.com in your browser.

Hello Dave, @Dave_1P , I use business and private wise 1Password across all available platforms and all sorts of devices. Windows, Apple, Google/Android, Linux. The web browser 1Password login requires always to provide the secret key and via my company additional MFA. So i used the web browser less. But I will check out with multiple browser tabs.
I am also looking forward for tab functionality in the 1App. Keeping the looks and feel the same across all platforms is key factor too.

    Brgds, Bas

  • Thanks again for the feedback, the product team will consider the request for the future. 🙂
