Feature requests iOS
I have two feature requests for things that seem to annoy me almost every use:
1) A setting to keep the search bar visible ALWAYS on lists. Or at the least, when I go to a list, it shows at the top. Having to scroll upward to get to it is annoying, especially if you are way down a list. And especially in light of # 2 below.
2). When I do a search, look at a result, then press back, take me back to (what should be) my search results and NOT to the list where I have scroll up, and enter my search term again. Since back usually means back up the previous screen, that would be back to the search results, right? This is really annoying if you are trying to look through all matching items.

Or, one more thing: Can I please select which list or collection I want the “Items” button to go to by default? Why add two more presses every time I want to look up a password?
So combining the previous request and this one: to search in my preferred collection, I have to:
- press “items”
- select my vault or collection
- Scroll the display up to show the search bar
- Enter search term
How about just:
- press “ items“
- Enter search term.
Make things easy. 1/2 the number of steps.
Maybe pressing items takes you to your preferred list and long press on items takes you to the list of vaults and collections?

Hello @MajorHavoc! 👋
Thank you for the feedback! I'll respond below:

The search field appearing when you swipe down on a list of items is an iOS design element that 1Password is deliberately choosing to remain consistent with so that it fits in better on the iPhone and iPad. You can see the same behaviour in the Apple Notes app or the Apple Mail app.
However, you can always access search with just one tap from any screen by tapping on the Search button in the navigation bar at the bottom of the 1Password for iOS app.
2). When I do a search, look at a result, then press back, take me back to (what should be) my search results and NOT to the list where I have scroll up, and enter my search term again. Since back usually means back up the previous screen, that would be back to the search results, right? This is really annoying if you are trying to look through all matching items.
I can't reproduce this behaviour. If I swipe down on a list of items and search for a term and then tap on an item from the search results, tapping on the back arrow in the top left corner of the screen brings me back to my search results. Can you confirm that these are the steps that you're following as well? Are you using 1Password for iOS version 8.10.38?
Or, one more thing: Can I please select which list or collection I want the “Items” button to go to by default? Why add two more presses every time I want to look up a password?

Thanks Dave. Answers without copying everything again:
1). Ok, fair enough. While working at Apple until recently, I complained (filed a Radar) a few times about the same behavior there with that UI. But the UI people think only they know whats best, so they do not take lightly to suggestions. Like talking to a wall. :-) SIGH. I hate extra motions or button presses when unnecessary. But I understand your reasoning.
2). Yes, I am on 8.10.38. And now I cannot make it happen again. Hmmmm. File it under strange glitch and ignore it. It was doing it all day, but I have since restated my phone.
One more thing: Thanks for looking at the suggestion. I was thinking with iOS 18's new "Set your own lock scree buttons" where I can change the Flashlight and camera to what I want, maybe adopting that idea and let us pick which icons are at the bottom (probably not as easy as that sounds) or maybe just pick the behavior of the search button at the bottom.
Thanks for listening.

If you do run into the issue again then let me know.

That sounds like a cool idea. I'll pass it along to the team internally. 🙂
