App integration not working with Chrome and Brave browser extensions
I've seen older similar posts on this same topic, but no solutions other than contacting support. Does anyone know why this is problematic or how I can fix it?
I'm running Pop!_OS 22.04 LTS, which is based on Ubuntu 22.04 LTS.
The Firefox browser extension works fine with the desktop app. But on both Chrome and Brave, the browser integration is not connecting to the 1Password desktop app. In the 1Password extension settings, under Integration this extension with 1Password desktop app, it shows:
[Status: Problems connecting. Please make sure 1Password app is unlocked.]
For the 1Password browser extension, I've tried the latest stable release, 2.27.1 (22700103, on STABLE channel) and also the latest nightly release 8.10.44.22 (81044022, on NIGHTLY channel) and see the same behavior.
Chrome version: 127.0.6533.119 (Official Build) (64-bit)
Brave version: 1.69.153 Chromium: 128.0.6613.85 (Official Build) unknown (64-bit)
Firefox version: 129.0.2 (64-bit)
Cheers,
Michael

Hello @Michael Mercurio! 👋
I'm sorry that the integration between the desktop app and Brave/Chrome isn't working on your Linux device. Have you made sure to install both 1Password for Linux and Brave/Chrome using an installation method other than Snap or Flatpak? If you installed one of the apps using Snap or Flatpak then please try the suggestions here:
Let me know if that guides doesn't work or if you're not using apps installed via Snap / Flatpak. 🙂

Doh! 🤦♂️ That was it exactly. After reinstalling the browsers from deb packages, it works as expected.
Thank you!
