1Password Form Fill Suggestions Appear in Non-Password Related Fields in CRM

This isn't a new issue, but it has reached a point of annoyance that I'm hoping to find a solution that doesn't completely handicap the legitimate usability of 1Password. I spend most of my day configuring a web-based CRM, and 1Password offers suggestions in non-username and non-password related fields.

This issue results in the 1Password utility obstructing text I enter in field and in some cases restricting functionality (I can't use the down arrow to select a recommendation from the CRM since 1Password is also offering a suggestion). Here are some examples where the issue comes up:

Creating a contact/lead

The 1Password suggestion shows up in what seems to be every 'name' field in the CRM. The suggestion box obstructs other parts of the layout:

Creating new fields

This is where it is most annoying since the text box is smaller. The 1Password icon obstructs what I'm typing:

The 'Display Label' field on this view also has similar behavior, but in this field specifically, it tries to recommend my email address:

I do have a login stored in 1Password for the site. I tried the following ways to mitigate this behavior:

  1. In the login record for this site, I changed the 'Autofill behavior' for the website to the 'Never fill on this website' option
  2. In the 1Password Extension settings, I disabled the 'Show autofill suggestions when a form field is in focus' and 'Offer to save items in autofill suggestions'

Neither of those options worked. The only thing that did work was to disable 'Offer to fill and save passwords' in the 1Password Extension settings. That defeats a main purpose of using the extension at all. Is there a solution I am overlooking?

1Password Version: 8.10.40
Extension Version: 2.26.1
OS Version: macOS 14.5
Browser: Chrome

  • Hello @rifa! 👋

I'm sorry that 1Password is offering suggestions that are getting in the way on the CRM that you're using. You can turn off 1Password on a particular page, until the next time that you restart your browser, by following these steps:

    1. Right-click on the page in questions.
    2. Click 1Password - Password Manager > Hide on this page.

That being said, the team would like to get this fixed so that the wrong fields aren't triggering suggestions from 1Password. Could you please send the page structure of the webpage in question to our support team? Follow these steps:

    1. Open the website in question until you can see the field that you're referring to.
    2. Right-click on the page and click "1Password - Password Manager" > Help > Collect Page Structure.

Attach the resulting JSON file to an email message addressed to support+forum@1password.com.

    With your email please include:

You should receive an automated reply from our BitBot assistant with a Support ID number. Please post that number here. Thanks very much!
