Generator with apps

I read some of the PW Generator discussions and hate to add another, but I was wondering if it was ever possible for the Generator should work with IOS apps when creating a login there. I just used the PW Generator function to create my account here. Funny but it didn't ask me to generate one because I just created the ID.

I forgot you had to click the PW field. Unfortunately, I used a Windows app to do it not thinking. That answered my first question if there was a Generator and I had thought so.

My second inquiry was concerning myself and whether I was doing what was possible when I created a new account using my iPhone apps. I have to open an independent PW Generator app since 1PW does not trigger in the app ID creation fields (ID and PW). It's not debilitating, just wanted to know if I was missing something.

Don't think Dashlane did that either. Apps seem to be a separate issue from the browsers. Some apps I think do trigger to add to 1PW, but some do not. This is in addition to no PW Generator trigger, nothing was asking me to add. I did it manually.

Thanks for the question! You can generate a password on your iPhone by using 1Password's password generator:

• Use the password generator to change and strengthen your passwords

If you're using Safari on your iPhone then you can also have 1Password for Safari generate a new password right on the page: Get to know 1Password for Safari on your iPhone or iPad

I don't recommend using other password generators, using 1Password to generate all of your passwords ensures that those passwords are unique, strong, and private. Let me know if I misunderstood the situation. 🙂

I think you are on the track, but I am still confused or rather feeling like I am missing something. I know when I deal with apps on my iPhone (versus a browser site); I do not get prompted for a PW to be generated. So is this generator popping up when I create a new ID and such or do I have to open and copy? For sure I do not get prompted which is why I use a 3rd party because I have to copy it as well. This is a subject I am in a fog over in 1PW. The 3rd party has the same capability to do very strong PWs so there is nothing 1PW can add but convenience and I don't get that. Whether I am not based on my not doing something right I have no idea yet.

Thanks for the reply. To create a new password when registering an account in another app on your iPhone you would follow these steps:

1. Open the app in question.
2. Tap on the password field in the app.
3. Tap on the "Passwords" prompt above your keyboard and unlock 1Password.
4. Tap on the + button in the lower right corner of the screen.
5. Fill in a title and username and then tap on the password field and then on Create a New Password.
6. Use the password generator to generate a password and tap Use. Then tap Save & Fill to fill the new password into the page.
