Feature Request: Customize Sidebar Order Like IOS

I frequently like to view my items 'by Vault' and I normally have all of my sidebar items fully expanded.

Right now, it seems like the order in the sidebar is hardcoded to be:

  • All Items
  • Favorites
  • Watchtower
  • > Categories (expandable)
  • > Vaults (expandable)
  • > Tags (expandable)

Since there are 15 categories and a much smaller list of vaults (typically), this means you have to scroll past all of the categories in order to select one of the vaults you wish to filter on (assuming your lists are typically fully expanded).

On the other hand, if you filter on categories more frequently, having the vaults higher in the list is less intrusive because this list of vaults will be much smaller and not as far to scroll past to get to the categories.

Ideally, the user should have the ability to customize this order (just like the IOS version 8.10.44). If this is not possible, then I would argue the vaults should be hardcoded to appear above the Categories & Tags instead of in between the two as such:

  • All Items
  • Favorites
  • Watchtower
  • > Vaults (expandable)
  • > Categories (expandable)
  • > Tags (expandable)

    Hello @snoringelephant! 👋

Thank you for the feedback! I've shared with our product team internally and they'll look into possible enhancements for the future.

In the meantime I do have a couple of suggestions that may help:

    1. You can use collections to quickly switch between groups of vaults instead of scrolling down to the vault list: Use collections to create custom groups of vaults
    2. You can turn off categories to make the sidebar smaller and then still filter by category from the top of the item list. You can find that option here: 1Password > Settings > Appearance.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks, @Dave_1P ! Both are good suggestions. I have never tried creating a Collection before because I never understood how it could be used. Now, I understand and I can see where it could be helpful to me.

    I love 1password!!

    Thank you so much.

  • Thank you for the feedback and for the kind words! 😊

    @snoringelephant and @Dave_1P :

    I could not agree more.

It would be wonderful to have the ability to render the sidebar categories / components as the current ordering does not work for me.

Please add this feature as soon as possible, it would be a wonderful enhancement!

    Thank you.
