Need assistance in syncing from laptop to phone

I have been on an annual Family Plan for a couple of years, but have used 1PW mainly on my laptop (Acer Aspire 5, 4 yrs old). I am now trying to sync to a new Samsung Galaxy S24+, have read much of the support info, but have not successfully done so. I suppose it doesn't help much that I am a certified and licensed "techno-dummy", so please reply accordingly (detailed, step-by-step instructions, etc. TIA!)
A few questions to start:
-- On my laptop, I have both downloaded 1PW for Windows and added the 1PW extension in my Edge browser. OK or not?
-- Specifically, what 1PW app should I load on my phone and where do I find it?
Maybe I should get that piece done correctly first, but follow-on advice at this time re syncing would be fine.

    Background: I am subscribed to a 1PW Family Plan for a couple of years now. However, I have used it mostly on my laptop as I use my phone primarily as a phone and less so as a computer. My hope was to get 1PW “fully functional” on both my and my wife’s laptops and phones. At this point, I am trying to sync 1PW from my laptop to my phone, then do the same for my wife’s devices.

    Issue: I have not been able to sync 1PW successfully from my laptop to my phone.
    Laptop is an Acer Aspire 5, about 4 yrs old, with Windows 11. Phone is a Samsung Galaxy S24+. I have read a bunch of KB articles, etc., but usually cannot understand the guidance, etc. It doesn’t help that I am a licensed and certified techno-dummy, so I am seeking detailed, step-by-step instructions rather than general guidance. At this point, I have downloaded 1PW for Windows and also added the 1PW extension to my Edge browser. Is that okay to have done both or not? Also, specifically what 1PW app should I install on my phone and where should I find it? Then, how do I go about doing the sync?

    Lastly, I joined this forum a day ago and this is my first post. If this topic is better posted under another category, please let me know.

    About apps and syncing: there are 3 kinds of app for 1Password, every app is doing its own integrated sync. One is the desktop app (or mobile app for phones). Second is the browser extension, and third is the website 1password.com.
    If one of these is syncing, it's syncing to the cloud. It's never syncing "from your desktop" "to your phone". Instead it's "syncing to and from the cloud".

    So if you have trouble with syncing, identify the one device that has communication issues with the 1Password cloud. Usually it's a network issue. Sometimes reinstalling the corresponding app will help (desktop app: reinstall. Browser extension: reinstall browser extension. 1password.com: clear cookies and website data in the security/cookie manager of your webbrowser. Before doing one of these, make sure you're still signed in on an additional device, because you need to sign up again after reinstalling, and for this you need another signed in device!)

    Thanks, Tertius3! The cloud info was very informative for me. I have done the app reinstall many times, but never the extension reinstall nor cookies clearing. Also appreciate the bit about staying signed in somewhere as I probably would not have done that. Thanks again.
