Hi

I want to set up passkey support on my playstation account, but just worried I will screw something up, for a start 1password watchtower doesn't even make me aware that passkey support for Playstation exists.

If I activate passkey on the Sony website will 1password save the passkey?

Anyone got playstation passkey enabled, is it working ok.

Thankyou

  • Hello @telUK! 👋

I'm sorry that you don't see a prompt that a passkey is available for your Playstation login. I created a test item and I see the Watchtower banner:

Can you tell me if you might have ignored the passkey banner in the past? If you have then you can restore it:

    1. Open and unlock the 1Password desktop app.
    2. Click Watchtower in the sidebar.
    3. Scroll down and click Show Ignored Alerts.
    4. Click on an item and then click Restore alert from the banner.

I don't personally have a Sony Playstation account so I'll let others report on their direct experience. In the meantime, you can find more information about using a passkey with Playstation here: Passkeys.directory - PlayStation

    Hi @Dave_1P

I've never ignored the passkey support for this as never seen it appear in 1p.

I just checked my login credentials and I don't have the main playstation address, I have something called my.account.sony, which is the correct address for when entering login details.

Should I switch the to the main "playstation.com", watchtower will likely pick the passkey support up then.

    Update/

If I add playstation.com website to 1p credentials watchtower lists passkey support.

I still need to keep "my.account" web address in the list though, otherwise autofill doesn't work on the login page.

All set up with passkey. Playstation actually deactivates the password and any other form of 2fa, which is good and I guess other sites will follow, as some you can still use either.

I have one last question, not that I plan to, but say I changed password managers, is it possible to export passkeys, or is the only way currently to disable them before switching to another pw manager?

    Thanks

Thanks for the question! Passkeys saved in 1Password can’t be exported at this time. We’re working closely with platform vendors and other password managers through the FIDO Alliance to create a secure way to import and export passkeys. We believe it’s your choice where to store and use your passkeys. Hopefully we’ll have more to share soon.

Currently, if you do decide to move to a different password manager, you would save a new passkey in the new password manager and then remove the passkey saved in 1Password.

    Hi
    @Dave_1P

Yes Ive noticed on playstation you can create more passkeys, Ive not checked all that I use a passkey for if they offer the same (create more than one passkey), if they don't I would need to deactivate before moving.
As said Im happy on 1p though, but its nice to know how to do things, as creating more passkeys where available it feels more and more like I'm locking myself in to 1p.

    Thanks

Different services may offer slightly different passkey experiences when it comes to how many passkeys you can save. If you do run into any other issues then let me know. 🙂
