Feature Suggest: Icon Picker Enhancements

I really relay on the Icons Feature as it makes the name for each entry much shorter.

However, if it's not a website (I guess 1Password will pick their favicon), but e.g. an App, no icon will be displayed.

The process of adding icons (and searching them in the first way) just takes too much time.

I wish there was some kind of icon search that works like the "Group Chat Avatar Picture" from WhatsApp where you can browse the Internet for a keyword and get images as a result.

E.g. I want to search for "Sparkasse Icon" and 1Password will present me a list of image search results which I can pick.

Also, if an entry is linked to an app (e.g. Android App), 1Password should be able to fetch the app icon from the Google Play Store.

  • Hello @alexplus! 👋

Thank you for the feedback! 1Password maintains a high-quality database of rich icons that get added to items based on the website address. For example, if I create an item with https://www.sparkasse.de/ as the website address then the rich icon automatically appears:

Rich icons are not pulled from a website's favicon or another location through an automatic process but are curated for quality by our team: About rich icons and your privacy

That being said, I can see how an automatic process or more options for rich icons could be helpful in certain situations. I've filed a feature request on your behalf. 🙂

    Hey @Dave_1P,
the problem with the Sparkasse example is that each local Sparkasse (similar to Volksbank) has its own domain and its own login. So an item with https://sparkasse.de will never work, because you have to create the item for https://www.foerde-sparkasse.de (Förde Sparkasse) or https://sparkasse-nienburg.de (Sparkasse Nienburg) as an example who doesn't have a rich icon. Some larger cities like Berlin (https://www.berliner-sparkasse.de) have a rich icon, but unfortunately this does not apply to most smaller cities. And even if they do, the logos sometimes differ from each other and look different (in 1Password).

But this is just one example of many.
