Can you use 1password on a remote computer?

For my work, I log into a company computer and use it remotely from my home. I have to access several websites from that computer, so 1password isn't on that computer. So I find myself switching back and forth between computers to find passwords and even website addresses since the remote computer forgets everything once I log off. Any ideas?

1Password Version: 8.10.46

  • Hello @abernardi! 👋

Thanks for the question! It sounds like your employer has chosen to create a non-persistent virtual desktop for you to use which means that any apps that you install will be wiped away once you've logged out. You could reach out to your employer to ask them to offer a persistent virtual desktop if that fits your organization's requirements. Or your employer can deploy 1Password and configure the deployment to preserve data between sessions:

If you can't install 1Password, or the browser extension, on the virtual desktop, then it sounds like using the web app through the browser is the best option. You can copy your passwords from the web app. The web app can be accessed by logging in to your 1Password account on 1Password.com (in the browser, not the app).

    I hope that helps.
