Hide app and require face id
Can someone explain some of the nuances and caveat related to hiding an app and also requiring Face ID.
iPhone has two new safety features in iOS 18 what is require Face ID for the app to even be activated and the other one is to hide it so it cannot be seenuntil a hidden folder is activated. How do these two things interact with the ability for the 1Password app to load up websites

Keep in mind that hiding the app and requiring Face ID or step wise processes. You can require Face ID, but not hide it, or you can do both.

Hello @pathfinder76! 👋
Thanks for the questions! Reaching out to Apple Support is probably the best option when it comes to better understanding how certain iOS feature work but I can speak to how the feature can affect 1Password. I've done some testing and if you choose to hide a password manager like 1Password then Apple will prevent that password manager from showing suggestions when filling and saving logins using AutoFill in Safari and other apps.
If you just require Face ID for 1Password then you'll be prompted for Face ID to open the 1Password app (whether opening the main app or filling into another app using AutoFill) and then you'll be prompted to unlock 1Password according to your auto-lock settings.
The 1Password for Safari web extension won't be available when choosing either option.
I hope that helps. 🙂

So from what you’re saying, hide will make the 1Password app and effective, but I can use the “require Faceid“

You can already have 1Password require Face ID whenever you open it by changing your auto-lock settings and making sure that Face ID is turned on for 1Password:
- How to set 1Password to lock automatically
- Use Face ID to unlock 1Password on your iPhone or iPad Pro
I recommend that you use the built-in auto-lock feature rather than using the iOS "Require Face ID" feature with 1Password since you'll be able to use Face ID to secure 1Password without losing functionality.
