New Yorker Magazine Login Issue

Cannot figure this out. New Yorker is owned by Condenast, so attempting to login drives the user to id.condenast.com. The actual URL looks like it has a session identifier - see below. How do I get this to work?

PS - don't know how to see the Firefox extension version. This happens on Safari, too.

1Password Version: 8.10.50
Extension Version: Not Provided
OS Version: macos 15.1
Browser: Firefox

  • Hello, @cvadmin. Thank you for reaching out.

I've done some testing on my end and noticed the email addresses from my identity items were being offered rather than the New Yorker account credentials. Our development team is aware of this problem, and I've added you as an affected user to our internal reporting.

In the meantime, I recommend adding https://id.condenast.com as a secondary website URL to your Login item and using the 1Password extension pop-over to autofill the credentials. Here's how:

    1. Open and unlock the 1Password desktop app.
    2. Locate the New Yorker Login item and click Edit.
    3. Click + add another website and paste the URL: https://id.condenast.com.
    4. Click Save.
    5. Navigate to the New Yorker's sign-in page.
    6. Click the 1Password icon in your browser's toolbar.
    7. Click Autofill on your New Yorker Login item.

    I hope that helps.

Evon, I tried your suggestion, e.g., added https://id.condenast.com. I don't seem to see the behavior that your instructions provide. Rather, the behavior I see is as follows —

Using the https://www.newyorker.com as first and https://id.condenast.com as second URL provides [redacted] as a choice — maybe that is what you mean by it pulling up the identity. I type in the correct email for the account (redacted), then the 1p gives me a choice of password that is correct.

Note that this is the same behavior that I see using only newyorker.com.

Thank you for confirming that this is a known issue.

    John

  • @cvadmin,

You're very welcome. 🙂 To clarify, the email suggestion on the New Yorker's sign-in page is from Identity items rather than the Login item. To Autofill on the New Yorker's login page, click the 1Password icon on your browser's toolbar and select the Autofill button. Here's a screenshot for reference:

    I hope that helps.

Thanks for the clarification. Will try it out.

  • You're welcome! Let me know how that goes.
