create a password from a webpage

edited November 5 in 1Password in the Browser

hi,

It used to be easy to create a new password from a 'create an account' webpage anywhere on the web, which then would automatically be added to 1Password, filed under the domeinname of that site.

Now I just see the tiny 1Password icon in the field where the website asks me to create a new password. Hoovering over the icon gives a little black balloon with 'open' and nothing happens when I click on it.

I must have not been paying attention, but when did 'create a password' disappear? Did I cause that?

1Password Version: 8.10.50
Extension Version: 8.10.48.25
OS Version: macOS 15.0.1
Browser: Firefox

    Hello @rrustema! 👋

I'm sorry that you're having trouble saving password using 1Password in Firefox, it sounds like the communication between the desktop app and the browser extension may have stopped working. Try the following:

    1. Open and unlock the 1Password for Mac desktop app.
    2. Click on 1Password next to the  in the menu bar.
    3. Click Settings.
    4. Click Browser.
    5. Make sure that "Connect with 1Password in the browser" is on.

    Then in the browser:

    1. Open your browser.
    2. Right-click on the 1Password icon in your browser's toolbar and click Settings.
    3. Make sure that "Integrate this extension with the 1Password desktop app" is on.

Then try to create and save a new password using 1Password. If that still doesn't work then do you see a green dot in the browser settings page? Or a different coloured dot and an error message?
