Using iPad OS version of 1Password on an iPad Pro 13. Trying to login to eBay account using Brave browser. I tell Brave to use 1Password to fill in password. I get the facial recognition pop up window come up, authenticate and disappears. 1Password refuses to fill in my username/email address on the eBay login screen.

I have to go to 1Password copy the username and then back to the login page and paste the username in. Only then will 1Password fill in the password.

1Password Version: iPad OS 8.10.48.
Extension Version: Not Provided
OS Version: iPadOS 17.7.2
Browser: Brave

  • Hi there @Fedup

When you autofill on an iPhone or iPad, it's Apple's Password AutoFill system, which is part of iOS, that does the actual detection and filling of forms. 1Password only provides the data that iOS requests.

Have you tried autofilling into eBay in another browser, like Safari?

I do also notice that you're using 1Password 8.10.48, and 8.10.52 is the current version, so try updating it through the App Store to see if that helps.

Let me know how things go in another browser. :)

I updated 1Password. For some reason, the App Store icon never indicated there were updates available. Safari on the iPad worked fine. I logged completely out, and it was able to enter the username fine—perhaps because it has the 1Password extension installed. I was not prompted for the 2FA code. On Brave still had the same username issue and was prompted for the 2FA code as well.

Thanks for the reply. I can reproduce the same issue that you see when signing into eBay's website in Brave on my iPad. This behaviour isn't ideal and AutoFill is specifically handled by iOS so 1Password is unable to control which fields get filled when you tap on an item since 1Password only provides the data for the experience.

I recommend that you report the issue to eBay so that they can see why their website isn't working properly with iOS AutoFill in Brave.

For the time being, filling does work without issue in Safari so I recommend either using that browser for eBay or copying and pasting your username into Brave (as you mentioned doing).
