edited November 25 in 1Password in the Browser

Yesterday I noticed that the URL for one of my logins in 1Password had been changed to a Google Tag Manager URL. Does this sound nefarious? Is it likely something that the website itself changed, or... ? I'm using 1Password on a Chromebook using an extension; not sure how to check the 1Password version.

Have I stumped the crowd? I'm just not sure why the URL for a site I visit was recorded as a Google Tag Manager within 1Password. Does that mean that the site (which is a financial software site) decided to implement Google Tag Manager, or...? I definitely do NOT remember editing the entry in 1Password to include this alternative URL. I'm really interested in determining how/why it got changed in 1Password, and preventing such a thing from happening in future.

  • Hello @nopenotme! 👋

Thank you for reaching out. 1Password will never change any of your login items without an action taken by you, such as editing that item in one of the apps or updating it through 1Password in the browser. So that I can better understand the situation can you tell me the following:

    1. Are you able to share which URL was saved there before and which URL is saved there now?
    2. Do you recognize the URL for "Google Tag Manager" currently saved in the item? Is that a webpage that you've accessed in the past?
    3. If you check the item's history, do you see the old URL in a previous version of the item: View and restore previous versions of items

If you'd like to avoid posting the answers to these questions on the public forum then you can send them to support+forum@1Password.com along with a link to this thread. After emailing in, you'll receive a reply from BitBot, our friendly robot assistant with a Support ID that looks something like [#ABC-12345-678]. Post that here, and I'll be able to locate your message. 🙂

I'm also getting this issue when I use the Mask Email integration with FastMail. When I was changing email addresses to new masked addresses for existing accounts, Google Tag Manager was added as a URL. This isn't the case for all websites, as some add URLs for other similar tracking websites. I've included a screenshot below. I'm using 1Password through Edge on a Windows 11 machine.

Below is an example for a saved logon for Woolworths.com.au which I changed to a masked email for.
