Clarifications regarding macOS autofill & TOTP codes
I'm trying to make autofill in 1Password work as smoothly as it does with the Passwords app and not having a lot of success. If it just doesn't work the same as the Passwords app, I'll lower my expectations.
I used to have PayPal configured with a TOTP that is generated in 1Password, but now, when I log into PayPal, they send a code to my iPhone. But 1Password has already filled the 6-digit code field with its TOTP code, so should I just remove the TOTP from my PayPal login? I presume this is a permanent change for PayPal.
When using only the Passwords app, TOTP codes sent to me in email and text are automatically deleted. This doesn't seem to be the case with 1Password. Any guidance on this?
In macOS settings there are a lot possible configurations regarding Passwords, Autofill and Codes. Do you have an FAQ that covers how these should be configure in macOS Settings when using 1Password. I"d like to turn off anything relevant to only the Passwords app and use only 1Password.
If using ONLY 1Password, should I delete all my current passkeys on their respective sites and create them again using 1Password?
Thanks!

Hello @LarryMcJ! 👋
Thank you for reaching out. 1Password doesn't control whether you use an authentication app (like 1Password) or receive a code via text message or email for two-factor authentication for your PayPal account. Those would be settings that you configure over on the PayPal end of things:
If you've switched to using a phone or email address for two-factor authentication for your PayPal account then I recommend that you make sure that you remove 1Password as an authenticator app for your PayPal account before you remove the TOTP that you have saved in 1Password to avoid being locked out.

1Password doesn't use the "Autofill & Passwords" feature in macOS System Settings so you won't see it listed there. I recommend that you turn that feature off. Instead you can fill and save logins using either 1Password in the browser:

Correct, save a new passkey in 1Password for each website. Once you've done this you can remove the old passkey from both the website in question and from the Apple Passwords app.
I hope that helps.
