Will not autofill login to my Zyxel router

  • The Zyxel router NR5103EV2 has adress http://192.168.1.1
  • The login item has both username and pw.
  • All autofill options are enabled in 1PW settings and in the extension settings.
  • Going to "http://192.168.1.1/login" shows fields "User Name" and "Password".
  • Clicking in the field User Name offers me the 1pw item "Xyxel admin login" to fill in.
  • Choosing that item fills the field User Name BUT NOT the field Password!

From within the app 1PW, the website field shows "http://192.168.1.1". If I hoover over that, I am offered to "Open and fill", but doing so it attempts to open an unwieldy url:
http://192.168.1.1/?nj6spc6we5cl2gw3sai7i7uvqi=yOuV_cubDsV_MxeM2v_6ULucYPWoLN4GwHFTWvvmfQH7l-k23KExDFnYovggsqgZouqHpNHo
(which of course Safari will not open and says that the server unexpectedly dropped the connection)

If I click at the far right of the item in 1PW and choose "Open" it will open the correct page.

I used the tedious Bot you have as the only help since you do not offer email support. Tried various things it suggested, including saving/updating the login item by ctrl-click the extension and choosing Save. Did not help.

After several attempts I told the bot that I give up. It offered me to open a support ticket so it asked for my name and email address. However, several attempt to do that only made the bot say "Oops, something went wrong". So in practice, it was impossible to open a support ticket.

Now I am exhausted! Trying this support community a last attempt before I give up permanently.

I suspect that there is something special with this Zyxel login page that prevents automation, since autofill has worked on other sites. It appears that one MUST login manually by copying and pasting fields, which is tedious.

    A complete absence of response!
    Ignored?
    No one knows?

  • Hello, @Ludde. Thank you for reaching out. I'm sorry about the problems you encountered with 1Password and with our Chatbot.

When the Open & Fill action from the app is used, a random string of characters is added to the URL, which acts as a sort of 'secret handshake' between 1Password and the website. This string doesn't contain any of your username/password data. However, due to the security mechanisms in place on some pages, the string of characters can cause an issue with the site and prevent it from re-directing properly.

So that I can take a closer look at the issue you’re experiencing, I’d like to request that you send me some information to support+forum@1Password.com. With your email, please include the following:

    1. Navigate to the page exhibiting the behaviour.
    2. Right-click the 1Password icon in your browser's toolbar and select Help > Collect Page Structure.
    3. 1Password will save a .json file to your "Downloads" folder.
    4. Attach the file to your email.

You should receive an automated reply from our BitBot assistant with a Support ID number. Please post that number here, and I will be able to locate your message and ensure it has reached the right place. Thank you!

I've located your support ticket and see that my colleague contacted you. Let's continue the conversation there. I'm closing this thread to prevent duplication of effort. 🙂
