Is it possible the name "1Password" has become obsolete?
Now that "passkeys" are a real thing, are used to log into many of my accounts, and someday they will go the way of the buggy whip, should the app name "1Password" be changed to a more appropriate and comprehensive app name?
I realized this issue while I was explaining to my wife that she should use the "passkey" in 1Password when it is offerred as a login option. Storing a "passkey" within 1Password along with "passwords" was a little confusing to her.

What is a passkey but a super charged password that is not easily human readable, nor should it be. 1Password is the single password you use to allow access to all other methods like passkeys, passwords, ssh credentials, and so on.
I like to think of it as you have 1Password to rule all the other possibilities. Your 1Password is the key to everything and unlocks those possibilities .
For me it would be a product much like Coke or Pepsi. They still have there original products but the brand has grown to so much more. Another example is the Apple password manager app which they named Passwords. True any of the above may change with time. No one knows what the future holds. A brand is however typically longer lasting in my opinion.
Just my two ¢.

Don't get me wrong...I agree with all you wrote since I too am "technical" and have been a 1Password user since 2017. From a purely technical perspective, I have no problem with the name.
However for the nontechnical, uninitiated persons out there who mistake the name for something else, like my spouse, or people looking for a login manager to manage passkeys, the name can easily be misleading. Brand not withstanding, from a marketing perspective in an industry where there are big changes coming, it might make sense for ya'll to consider a name change, if for nothing else to position yourself for what your management believes is coming. There are countless brands that have changed names and mission setting themselves up for the future, such as the world famous "Sound of Music" store now known as "Best Buy", or "Apple Computers" which I myself recall vividly but who is now known simply as Apple. Her are a lot more, "https://www.threerooms.com/blog/famous-brands-that-changed-their-names". Those name changes paved the way for their future, opening up new horizons that even they could not forsee.
As for me, I have no skin in the game and am happy with the familiar name because I have been around since earlier days and am technical at heart.
