Unexpected App Error

Hello,

I just got this error after clicking to view a Software License entry in 1Password for Mac. It didn't happen immediately. I'm almost certain that the error occurred when I clicked the Edit button to make changes to the entry. But now 1Password only shows this error across restarts, it doesn't operate normally.

  • Unexpected Application Error
  • Invalid ISO 8601 date time string
  • Can't recover; quitting the app and restarting it reveals the same error, preventing accessing any part of the app
  • Support Ticket ID: DKB-48588-793

1Password for Mac version: 8.10.54, 81054022, on PRODUCTION channel
MacOS Sequoia 15.1.1
MacBook Air M3

Update: I’m confident that I figured out what is causing the problem:

    • I clicked on the Edit button in 1Password’s Software License entry for TextSniper
    • Unbeknownst to me, the TextSniper entry had an invalid date-time string
    • Not sure why 1Password couldn’t cope with the invalid string to the extent that it rendered the entire app unusable
    • But I have a theory about how an invalid date string found its way into my vault: 1Password’s built-in mechanism for entering a date surely wouldn’t create an invalid format? The only other method of adding a date I can think of is importing data into 1Password from some other source (via a CSV file from another app, maybe?
    • So, I closed 1Password for Mac
    • I then logged into my.1Password.com and put the TextSniper entry into the trash
    • The next time I opened the 1Password app for Mac, it opened properly without the Unexpected Application Error

    Does that make sense?

Presumably I should be concerned about other instances of this sort of problem in other entries. The only method for finding out for sure that occurs to me is to click ‘Edit’ in every entry in my 1Password vault. Or is there another way to find show-stopping instances of invalid data in my vault?

    I hope that helps!

Thank-you very much for any suggestions you are able to provide.

    Peter
