Where is the new 'Secret Key' needed to sign in to 1PW when something goes wrong?

Totally confused. I Couldn't sign in to find version of 1Password. However, just now I decided to type in the url manually and I'm in. What the heck??

  • Hello @lcool1020! 👋

Thank you for reaching out. Can you tell me a little more about the issue that you're running into? Are you trying to sign into the 1Password desktop app? Or 1Password.com? You mentioned a URL, are you able to share that URL?

You can find your Secret Key in your Emergency Kit.

I look forward to hearing from you.

For some reason my password wasn't working. No idea why. Though, i think I accidentally changed it while needing to change another password - and, now, have no idea what my password was before. In trying to solve the problem, I used my Secret Key to try and log on but it didn't work. I went through the Help bit but still couldn't get in. Frustrated, I typed in the URL and when I clicked on the sign-in, not typing anything, I was in. I had seen something about the new (forget what it is called) that started with 1PRK. I found where to set that up it up. I'm in for now and can get in manually typing the URL, though haven't tried this morning. Deleteing and starting over is not an option. I have so many.

Thank you for the reply. Just to clarify: are you able to log in to your 1Password account on 1Password.com (in the browser, not the app)?

This sounds like your recovery code which allows you to access your 1Password account if you lose your account password or Secret Key. You can read more here: Generate and use recovery codes

I look forward to hearing from you.

I have been having issues with 1Password and I'm able to get in by typing in the URL for 1Password, but using the 1Password icon, which has a separate password to sign in, does not allow me to edit my new password for 1Password. How do I change/edit the password?? TIA.

I can log in at 1Pawword.com. I can log in to the app, but not 1Password itself from there... I have gone through the recovery mode several times but cannot change the password once inside the app. And, the app is not locking... So perplexed by all of this...

You can only change your account password for 1Password using 1Password.com: How to change your 1Password account password

To help me better understand the situation I'd like to ask you to take a screenshot of what you're seeing and attach it to your reply:

Make sure that nothing sensitive is visible in the screenshot.

So, it seems the password changed on the app icon... When I click on the1Password app to auto fill, it opens up. But, all I can access is:

And, of course, I can't access via phone or iPad...

When you try to access 1Password on your iPad, what do you see? To help me better understand the situation I'd like to ask you to take a screenshot of what you're seeing and attach it to your reply:
