Trouble Changing Existing Password

I'm trying to have 1Password generate a new password. There are three fields: Old Password, New Password, and Confirm New Password. 1Password doesn't recognize that the first field is different from the second and third. It keeps injecting the proposed new password into the first field, and it won't allow me to enter the old password manually. It blocks my typing and is persistent. I can click away to dismiss it, but the minute I put my cursor in the blank field, 1Password takes action again. The scenario where you have to enter your old password before changing and confirming the new one isn't rare or odd. It's standard procedure. I don't understand why this isn't working.

1Password Version: 8.10.54
Extension Version: 8.10.55.2
OS Version: Mac OS 15.1.1
Browser: Chrome and Firefox

  • Hello, @KatieDydde. Thank you for writing in. I'm sorry about the trouble.

Are you experiencing this on all websites or a specific one? If it's a particular website that's publicly accessible, can you share the URL?

Hi Evon, thanks for getting back to me.

This is really embarrassing. I've gone through every login in my 1Password list and haven't been able to find that same screen. I had been going through the whole list (hundreds) and having 1Password create ultra-secure passwords when this happened. I should've left the site open instead of moving on to another site in the same tab. Very sorry. Some other problems I was having with password changes also seem to have resolved themselves. I guess we should close this ticket and if I encounter the problem again I'll let you know. Again, my apologies.

    Thanks and regards,
