I have a 2024 MBP M4 Max running macOS 15.2 with 1Password and 1Password for Safari. I have 1Password and 1Password for Safari setup indecently. I can not unlock 1Password for Safari with either the password of Touch ID. The bad news!
The 2023 MBP M3 Max and the 2024 MBP M4 Max configurations of 1Password and 1Password for Safari are identical! What gives?
Would like / need to be bale to run 1Password and 1Password for Safari independently on my 2024 MBP M4 Max.

I think I discovered the problem and things seem to be working.
In the below image there is an option in the 1Password desktop app that reads " Connect with 1Password in the browser".
It would be helpful were someone to explain the need / use case for this option as toggling it off makes 1Password for Safari inoperable. It is a though the desktop app is the data base / engine and without it the 1Password for Safari Extension cannot access any data (i.e., it has nothing to do with synchronizing unlocking).
Worth noting, it appears to have a different impact that the 1Password for Safari Extension setting of "Integrate this extension with teh 1Password desktop app". It is a though this is related to synchronizing unlocking (i.e., it has nothing to do with data access).
Perhaps someone from 1P can chime in?
Thank you.

Hello, @Joelc. Thank you for writing in.
The 1Password Extension integrates with the 1Password desktop app through a feature known as Shared Lock State. This functionality ensures that when you log into the app, you're automatically logged into the extension as well, streamlining your experience by eliminating the need for separate sign-ins.
In the 1Password desktop app, this option is Connect with 1Password in the browser; in the 1Password extension, it's Integrate this extension with the 1Password desktop app. If both options are enabled, they should communicate with each other.
Based on what you shared, it sounds like the 1Password desktop app is having trouble communicating with the 1Password browser extension on one of your devices. However, if you'd like to unlock the 1Password extension independently from the 1Password desktop app, you can toggle off the Integrate this extension with the 1Password desktop app option.
If you'd like to troubleshoot the communication issue, please send us some information to support+forum@1Password.com. With your email, please include the following:
