Stop 1P from asking to *update* an existing password?

In some sites, I'm OK with 1P autofilling stuff, but I don't want it to update its records. In those sites I'm constantly having to dismiss the 1P dialog and be careful to avoid the update button, which ends up being a bit of dialog fatigue.

So, is it possible to somehow signal to 1P to never ask again to update in these websites?

  • Hello, @hmijail. Thank you for reaching out. You can turn off the Save login prompt in the 1Password extension settings. Here's how:

    1. Open your browser.
    2. Right-click the 1Password icon in your browser's toolbar and select Settings.
    3. In the Autofill & save section, toggle off the Offer to save logins option.

    I hope that helps.

Wouldn't that stop 1P from saving logins anywhere?
That'd be a lot of overkill... I was hoping for something website-specific :/

  • @hmijail,

Turning off Autosave prevents items from being automatically saved after you sign in to a website. There is no option to disable Autosave for individual sites. However, you can still manually save your login information by clicking the "Save in 1Password" button beneath the input fields.

Although I can't guarantee anything, I've forwarded your feedback to our product team for consideration. They will review the possibility of implementing an option to disable Autosave for specific items.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Actually the manual option to save sounds reasonable... thank you, I will try that.

Just to double-check: even if what I want to stop is just the auto-updating, I have to disable the whole auto-saving?

  • @hmijail, you are welcome.

You're right; it's not possible to turn off Autosave for individual websites. The Autosave prompt should only appear if the Login item does not exist in your vault or when the credentials differ from the suggested items.
