Feature request: Send message and/or notification to users from Admin interface

Hi all (first poste here)
As an Admin, I'd like to be able to send mail and/or notifications to users from the web interface.
Both from the People page, and from the Group pages.
Does anyone else require this feature (or have I completely missed that it already exist)?
