Add the ability to reference passwords in other entries
I've found several threads asking for this feature, so I thought I'd add my voice to the chorus. I have a specific use case where I need an entry that has references to multiple passwords in other entries.
I use Quicken and to update information from financial institutions you need to provide the password. In my case, I need to provide my password for Fidelity, my password for Fidelity again (different work account), my Vanguard account, my wife's Vanguard account.
I just switched over from KeePass where this was pretty easy to accomplish: I made an entry called "One Step Update" then I updated the auto type tab associating it with the Quicken app, and Notepad for debugging purposes. Then in the auto type field I entered the following:
{REF:P@T:Fidelity}{TAB}{REF:P@T:Fidelity}{TAB}{REF:P@T:Vanguard (David)}{TAB}{REF:P@T:(Kristi 401K)}{TAB}{TAB}{TAB}{TAB}{TAB}{DELAY=500}{ENTER}
REF = reference to a field in another entry
P@T: Password at entry then name of the entry (ex. "Fidelity"
TAB = A tab button press
DELAY=500 = Delay for 500 milliseconds (sometimes you need to pause or the application will miss the next command
ENTER = Press the Enter key
The result of the above is that it inputs my Fidelity Password, tab, Fidelity Password tab, David's Vanguard account password, tab, Kristi's Vanguard account password, tab, tab, tab, tab, tab, take a breath for a half second, enter
This allows me to enter all of my passwords into one step update and kick it off with the press of crtrl-shift-a from an application written by 1 guy!
Instead, I have to hit ctrl-shift-space to bring up the quick entry, be careful not to click the auto-type part (the majority of the entry displayed) but instead click on the 3 dots menu, then copy the password from there and paste it in the password field. Repeat to paste the same password in the next field. Repeat as I lookup David's Vanguard account. Repeat as I look up Kristi's Vanguard account. Click on Enter in the One Update window. Whew! I'm exhausted just typing all that!
People have been asking for this same functionality as far back as 2013 from what I can tell. 1Password always responds with "It isn't a good practice to reuse passwords" but in none of the cases I could find on these forums are people trying to reuse passwords for multiple accounts. They are trying to use passwords for those accounts in different, unique contexts.
All of these problems could be solved by a) letting us reference fields from other entries, b) use some sort of mark up language to give specific key presses in applications.
The other argument I see is, "People could abuse this to reuse passwords." Yes they could, so make it something you need to turn on, just like you do with submitting information to HaveIBeenPwnd. You have a little disclaimer explaining what the risks are. You can do the exact same thing with this feature.
I'm asking you to please institute this feature; a LOT of your customers seem to be asking for the same thing.
Thanks for your consideration, oh mighty Agile Bits Customer Service Managers and Developers blessings be upon you all your lives and whatever abeyances are needed for you to add this feature. Your lowly customers have wandered the desert for 11 long years! Help us Agile Bits staff, you're our only hope!

Here's another discussion, it's a different use case, in the browser, but would be solved by adding the functionality I asked for above a year ago:https://1password.community/discussion/comment/690291#Comment_690291
Here's a request from March of this year.

Hello @HeffElf! 👋
Thank you for the detailed feature request and for linking the other threads! While I can't make any promises, I've passed along your request to our product team who will look into adding field references and auto-type recipes to 1Password in a future release.
Last year, the team introduced auto-type for Windows and the team has discussed developing a syntax based recipe for auto-type in the future:
Based on feedback here as well as reddit, we're going to investigate adding the ability to customize the auto-type recipe. We believe presenting the recipe in syntax form will be suitable based on what we're reading, but let me know if you have better alternatives in mind.

Thanks for the ping! You can enable auto-type in the stable release of 1Password for Windows using this guide: Use Auto-Type in apps and browsers on your Windows PC
I hope that helps.
