Double Clicking Passwords in 1Password 4 no longer works
Upgraded to version 4 and now when I double click a password entry, it no longer logs me into the site automatically. The browser opens, and then it just hangs forever trying to load the page.
It basically just site there trying to load the URL, like this for example:
www.some-website.com/sign-in?onepasswdfill=MANYNUMBERSANDLETTERSHERE
Please help.

Mike T. You seem to be the expert here. Can you please respond to this? I see you've responded to others that were posted after this one. Sorry to be like that but I'm really frustrated at the moment. I've spent the past 2 hours trying to fix this. Or anyone who has a solution, if you could respond I'd appreciate it.
If this problem can't be solved, please tell me how to get rid of Version 4 and revert back to 3. I can't even move the app to the trash. Won't let me. If I can't use an app like Alfred with 1P, or even just double click a password from inside 1P, then the app is mostly useless for me. That's what I use about 99% of the time. So if there's no solution, how do I get back to version 3 which worked just fine. Thanks.

Hi @z1pwduser,
I'm not only the expert, but I'm also on the support/QA teams for AgileBit. :) Let's get your fixed up here.
When you upgraded to 1Password 4, did you also remove the 1Password 3 extensions in your browser and install the 1Password 4 version? Here's how to uninstall the 1Password 3 extension and after that, open 1Password, go to the 1Password menu > Install Browser Extensions to install the new 1Password 4 extension in your browser.
Let me know if that helps or not. Note, some users had to reboot their Mac to get things in a better shape, please try that as well.

Just as a test make a note of your login details, delete them, and then try re-saving them as you normally would. Sometimes things screw up for me and that often works.
I'm not sure if it's 1Password mucking up or there might be a slight change of design in the web page.

Mike thanks for the reply.
So to answer your questions, yes I did all of that. I removed the old browser extension (I use Firefox), and actually reinstalled the new version twice. I also rebooted twice.
I just did what you suggested. I deleted the login from 1P, and re-created it again with the same result.
When I removed the old browser extension, it said something about syncing it first? I read the instructions a few times and it made no sense, so I skipped that step. It said if you skip it, you could just lose some passwords. But that isn't the issue here.
Also, I don't know if it matters, but Version 3 of 1P was purchased direct from you, not the app store. So I went to Agilebits site to download the new version, and I says that you have to wait a day or so. Couldn't understand why I'd have to wait when the product had been released.
Anyway, so I did not want to wait, so I went to the app store, and just bought Version 4 again from scratch. That's how it was installed.
Then I used an app called AppZapper to delete Version 3 from the Mac.
After all this, I even tried re-installing version 3, and it still isn't working.
Also, not sure if it matters, but after running version 4 for the 1st time, it asked if I have a data file locally, so I checked that, and found the Dropbox 1Password.agilekeychain folder and selected that one, which it imported.
That's basically the whole chain of events.
Let me know.

HI @z1pwduser,
The website version of 1Password 4 and the Mac App Store are two separate apps, the Mac App Store was released first and the website version isn't ready yet, we're still working on finishing it up.
Since a lot of things were changed today with your switching between both versions, it's difficult to know where the problem could be. However, let's get an idea by creating a diagnostic report from your 1Password app and email it to us at support@agilebits.com. Here's how to generate the report:
1. Download our troubleshooting tool
2. Unzip it and open it. Go to Diagnostic Report and click on Create Report.
3. If you have an email client installed, click on Create New Mail Message
If you don't, drag the blue icon to insert it as an attachment in your email to us at support@agilebits.com

Okay, I just emailed it.

Thanks for emailing the report, @z1pwduser. We'll look into that as soon as possible.

This is a bug we already discussed in the beta forum. It seems that when using Firefox, the website will not load when the url contains the ?onepasswdfill part. Hopefully this is fixed soon.

It's surprising that the software was released with such a serious bug.
I just tried installing the version directly off the site, which I see is now available, but that didn't work either. I also emailed about another issue. I can't use version 4, it's just not ready for prime time.
Right now, I'm trying desperately to eradicate this app from my system, and I can't even do that. After uninstalling it, the 1Password Mini app refuses to go away.
Look, all I want to do is revert back to version 3. So can you please do this for me: Give me instructions to completely remove version 4 from my Mac, including this Mini app that appears in the top bar. I actually have two of them now for some unknown reason.
Then where can I download version 3? I just want to go back to the previous version. This is entirely disruptive to my workflow.
Let me know.
Thanks.

Oh, and I forgot to mention @sandman4sure. It isn't just Firefox that this happens in, I tried Chrome too yesterday, and it's not working there either.

Just upgraded to v.4 and double clicking works fine. I'm running 10.8.5 and Safari, so I guess as you say it's a Firefox thing

I can tell you it's not working for me. I've tried Chrome too, and also doesn't work there. My primary browser is Firefox, so it has to work for me in there.
I'm now into my second day of trying to get this to work. I've lost hours of productivity messing with this. If someone can provide instructions on how to remove 1P4 completely, please do so. It seems that even when I move it to trash, this "Mini" app refuses to go away.
So at this point, if you can help me get rid of the Mini app, I should be okay. I will just revert back to version 3. What a disaster.

yeah, Safari works.
P.S. Beta thread about this issue:

Thanks. But we're no longer in Beta right? So the product was released without resolving that bug. Anyway, again. If someone can explain how to remove the mini app, I would appreciate it.

Have you previously used a 1P4 beta version, @z1pwduser? And if you still have 1P4 MAS installed, have you tried disabling Always keep 1Password mini running under Preferences > General? Any information about the current state of 1Password on your system would be helpful for knowing what to suggest you do to get it (either 1P3 or 1P4) working properly. Thanks!

@sjk, thanks for your reply. No, I've never used 1p4 beta. The App Store version of 1P4 was installed after I purchased it. The only reason I did that was because when I went to the download page on agilebits, there was a note about the download not being available, and I didn't want to wait, so I re-purchased it from the App Store. My previous version was purchased direct.
Right now, it looks like I have been able to uninstall the Mini app, because it's gone now. Perhaps some of the actions I have been taking over the past few days seem to have worked.
Here's basically where I'm at:
I have removed 1P4 completely, and was able to revert back to version 3.8.21. So everything is working fine. Automatic logins via Firefox work as they always have with 3.x, and I'm a happy camper as a result.
It would be nice to upgrade to 4.x, but there's two issues which would prevent me from doing that.
- The one stated above. Cannot login automatically via Firefox. I log into various sites between 50 and 100 times a day using this method, so it's a deal breaker for me because without it, it would slow my workflow down considerably.
- When using two displays, and you click the browser addon icon, the dialog box shows up on the other screen (no need to respond to this one, I emailed support directly on it.)
So at this point, I don't think there's anything else you can/need to do, other than for me to watch release notes to see that these bugs have been resolved, then I can take another crack at upgrading.
Also, I haven't yet heard back from @MikeT regarding that diagnostic report I emailed, I'm guessing you guys are just busy since the release of 4.
Thanks again for your help.

As per z1pwduser, I've had to completely remove V4 and go back to V3 (thank you Time Machine) so all is working again.
I'd really like to use the new version but until I can guarantee a solid upgrade path, I'm not risking it again.0 -
Hi guys,
I'm sorry about missing this thread.
The ?onepasswdfill issue bought up by sandman4sure has already been fixed a while ago in the 1Password 4.0.1 extension update.
The one stated above. Cannot login automatically via Firefox. I log into various sites between 50 and 100 times a day using this method, so it's a deal breaker for me because without it, it would slow my workflow down considerably.
This should already be fixed in the 1Password 4.0.1 extension.
When using two displays, and you click the browser addon icon, the dialog box shows up on the other screen (no need to respond to this one, I emailed support directly on it.)
This is still an issue we're investigating. It'll be improved in future updates.
Also, I haven't yet heard back from @MikeT regarding that diagnostic report I emailed, I'm guessing you guys are just busy since the release of 4.
I looked for your email just now, I didn't see anything. I checked for your email address you used in your profile. If that's not the email address you sent from, please PM me your address and I'll look at it. We have separate teams who does the email support, so I might not be able to catch all of the emails from this forum but I do try to catch up here.
