1Password 4 safari extension installation
Hi, I can't seem to install the extension for Safari. When I go to the menu item and button in preferences 'Install Browser Extension' it only installs the Chrome extension, which I have already installed. It doesn't matter if Chrome is open or closed. If Chrome is closed, it will open Chrome for me. Nothing happens in Safari. Please help.
Thanks,
Supasyl

Hi, Sylvia. I'm sorry you're having trouble installing the 1P4 extension for Safari.
Please try opening this page directly in Safari: 1Password Extension
After clicking the big green Install button the extension will download and another page will be displayed with additional Safari-specific installation instructions.
Or, when viewing that page in Chrome you'll see a clickable box (a bit under and left of the Install button) containing this text:
Not using Chrome? Show all extension.
Clicking that will display clickable Install buttons for Safari, Firefox, and Opera extensions. I suggest trying the first method.
I hope that works for you. If not, please let us know where you get stuck and we'll help resolve it. Thanks!

The Safari extension for 1Password 4 should be more obvious. I googled "1Password safari mac" https://www.google.com/search?client=safari&rls=en&q=1password+safari+mac&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8 and it sent me to an old version of the extension that doesn't say the version anywhere, except after you've installed it. Maybe a warn in all 1Password 3 pages that they are not the up to date version could be fine. https://agilebits.com/browsers this doesn't show the version either.

Hi Randy,
Thanks for the feedback, we'll see what we can do about making that a bit more clear in the future. :)

I just installed Mac OS X Mavericks but previously had 1Password 4 already installed. The extension would not work in Safari 7.0 and I tried the link in oversoul’s comment above. Still did not work (the extension was still version 3.x). I tried again and selected the “beta” option and that worked! It installed the 4.0.1b1 version of the extension.

I just checked my MacBook Pro, which was also updated to Mavericks around the same time, and the 1Password extension there is version 4.0.1, not beta. It’s a mystery as to why 1Password 4 installed the correct version there but not on my Mac Pro.

I also searched Google and cannot locate the safari extension for 1 password 4. Help.

Hi @blynn,
You should be able to find the Safari extension here: https://agilebits.com/browsers/index.html
Please let me know if you have any difficulties.

I just wanted to chime in and say that I had an awful time trying to get the extensions installed as well. I had to install and remove them many times before this last link downloaded the proper version. I am a developer and this was not easy. I can't imagine how my mother or a less savvy user would have dealt with this. That said, I'm excited to use the software!

Thanks for the feedback, @sheriffderek.
I'm sorry the 1P4 extension installation was such a struggle for you and am glad you were able to get it sorted out. If there's anything we can help you with please don't hesitate to ask. Thanks!

Same problem here. Google searches for "1password Safari" led me to repeatedly install an older version of the extension on Safari, via this page (https://agilebits.com/extensions/mac/index.html) [1P3], until I found this thread. There is no obvious messaging on the aforementioned web page that indicates that it links to an old version, and that the correct version is elsewhere. The version on the web page at https://agilebits.com/browsers/index.html [1P4] works fine.

A 3.9 version of the safari extension is being provided through the above link even though it is labeled as Version 4. I am unable to find a Version 4 extension to download. When using the above links to download the extension i get a file with this name 1Password-4.0.1.safariextz. The name obviously labels the extension as a version 4 extension. The problem is that after installing the extension it is a 3.9 version and not a 4.0 version. The installed version of the extension is displayed as version 3.9.20, as shown in Safari Preferences, Extensions. Help, please. It has been frustrating to figure this out and I am missing using the extension. I often go to webpages first and I cannot fill the login without the extension.

Hi, @GoBuffs.
I'm sorry you're having trouble installing the 1Password 4 extension for Safari. The extension pages for 1P3 and 1P4 have accurate links.
Please give this a try:
- Uninstall all 1Password extensions currently installed in Safari under Preferences… > Extensions
- Restart Safari
- Double-check that no 1Password extensions are installed
- Download and install this extension: https://d13itkw33a7sus.cloudfront.net/dist/1P/ext/1Password-4.0.1.safariextz (file size is 160KB)
- Open Preferences… > Extensions and confirm the 1Password 4.0.1 extension is installed.
Let me know how that goes. Thanks!

Hi, I tried the above steps of removing the extension and reinstalling it. Still no go. The extension works with Google Chrome but the one for Safari still doesn't. I'm using the latest version of Mavericks (10.9.2) and Safari (7.0.2).

I have tried downloading the file in the link you gave but my system (Mavericks 10.9.2) sees it as a Windows file and launches Parallels Desktop!

Hi @Ronin56,
I'm sorry that using the direct download link posted earlier was troublesome, which is for older version 4.0.1 of the 1Password extension for Safari. Please try downloading the current 1Password 4 extension from the 1Password Extension page. The direct link for version 4.1.0 is:
https://d13itkw33a7sus.cloudfront.net/dist/1P/ext/1Password-4.1.0.safariextz
If it's being seen as a Windows file you can run File > Open With > Safari on it in Finder so Safari opens it. Or run File > Get Info on it to ensure it's opened with Safari, e.g.:
