upgrading to 1P v4 without access to old email address

I have an 1P license for v3 (I think it was an upgrade from v2, and possibly from even earlier, but I don;t remember how the upgrades were handled before), but I don't have access to the old email address that I used originally. I have the license number. Can I use it to get an upgrade to v. 4 license, i.e. would the new license be displayed when I purchase it or would it be sent to an email address that I can't access (or both, and if that's the case how to change the email address associated with the license)?
