Upgrade?
I'm a longtime user of 1Password3 for Mac (not from the Mac App Store; I'm running the most recent Mac OS), and 1Password for iPhone, but want to upgrade to 1Password4.
I've been browsing the discussion board intermittently for the past couple of weeks before deciding to upgrade (have read through the sticky posts and this, but the overwhelming majority of posts that I have seen have are negative in nature about the program (and administrative responses have not been particular with timeframes aside from the fact that developers are "working on it").
I've taken a USB drive, and copy and pasted all of my passwords (into an text file) and attachments into a folder (encrypted, but not 1Password-encrypted).
Assuming I uninstall 1Password3 from my Mac (and leftover files) and start from scratch with 1Password4:
What (if any, at this point) problems should I expect to encounter?
If the issues in the previous question are significant, is there any sort of timeframe the developers have in mind that I should wait for them to get these issues sorted out?
Which version is recommended: Mac App Store or standalone from the website?
(Also, it'd be nice to use this forum over HTTPS with a certificate that is signed by a commonly trusted root certificate authority.)
Sorry if I've reposted anything.
Thanks in advance for your help.

What you encounter when you upgrade to 1P4 from 1P3 rather depends on what you do with it. :) For example, I'm running the beta (4.0.2b1) with very few problems. (The beta is rather more akin to the AgileBits' store version than the Mac App Store version. It doesn't use sandboxing.) However, I do not use Dropbox or iCloud to sync to an iOS device—and that's where quite a few of the problems seem to be occurring just at the moment. So perhaps the big question for you is, "Do I need to sync the data and, if so, how will I do it?".
The Mac App Store version supports iCloud sync. That from the AgileBits' store does not. If you want iCloud sync you should get the Mac App Store version.
I hope this is at least a little helpful!

I'm using the release version from the AgileBits web site. I have had no problems with iCloud syncing.
It's probably wise to remember that few users will be posting to say that everything is working fine for them. Posts will always be mostly from those seeking help with a problem, which can give you a false impression about how often problems occur. That isn't to say that there aren't still issues needing attention. A quick read of the Know Issues post will document that.

Thanks @Stephen_C and @hawkmoth for your help.
(I'm not syncing using anything else besides either WiFi or USB, so Dropbox/iCloud isn't an issue.)

Just be aware that the USB sync tool is no longer supported in iOS version 4.3.

Hi guys,
What (if any, at this point) problems should I expect to encounter?
All the Known issues are shared here, we do try to update it as often as we can.
We're going through some pain growth at the moment but we're working around the clock to fix the reported bugs as fast as we can.
If the issues in the previous question are significant, is there any sort of timeframe the developers have in mind that I should wait for them to get these issues sorted out?
We don't want to rush the fixes to make things worse, so we have to take our time to test things through. We've released 4.0.4 to our beta team yesterday and are now testing things throughly. You can watch that forum to keep track of progress if you want.
Right now, we're way behind with the email queue (we got over 10K emails to reply with 1K new email coming in every day). So, we're doing a lot of things at the same time but we're catching up with 4.0.4 for Mac and 4.3.1 for iOS updates coming soon that should resolve most of the bugs reported in the last few weeks.
Which version is recommended: Mac App Store or standalone from the website?
Website, majority of the syncing issues has been related to the sandboxing issues in the Mac App Store. The website don't have the sandboxing yet, so it can avoid many of the issues.
(Also, it'd be nice to use this forum over HTTPS with a certificate that is signed by a commonly trusted root certificate authority.)
We'll send a request to Vanilla Forums, who is hosting this for us, and we'll see what they can do for us.
For now, I'd suggest waiting for the 4.0.4/4.3.1 updates to come out first, it should be a few weeks if you can wait. 1Password 4.3.1 for iOS includes more improvements to the Wi-Fi sync.

@Stephen_C, @MikeT: Thanks for the reply.
I ended up using the web store version (4.0.2); I'm encountering some issues (see here); I think this thread can probably be closed at this point.

Hi, @GDWzLCoeOuPOniGU. On behalf of @Stephen_C and @MikeT, you're welcome.
I'll go ahead and close this topic now, with your approval since you started it. :)
Followups about your other issues will be in that other topic you referred to.0
