Dropbox Sync: 1P (non-MAS) does not update 1P keychain in Dropbox
Hi everybody!
I’m experiencing issues with Dropbox sync or rather sync in general.
It seems that 1Password does not update its 1Password.agilekeychain in Dropbox folder.
Here’s my setup:
- 1Password 4, Version 4.0.2b1 (402001)
- OS X 10.9 GM
- Dropbox sync to "~/Dropbox/synced/1Password"
- just one Vault
In 1P’s settings is something written "Last sync: 10 sec ago" but when I check the 1Password.agilekeychain file in Finder, last update is mor that 12 hours ago. Even if I made changes in 1P and locked it again I get that result. I’m wondering if I can force a sync somehow?
I tried to disable sync in settings, deleted 1Password.agilekeychain and the entire folder a couple times, re-enabeld sync but it does not seem to work properly. I figured out that export works fine for the first time but then changes won’t be synced.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Paul

Hi @Stephen_C !
Thanks for your reply. As far as I can see the given thread is about the MAS version. I’m not sure if this affects the non-MAS version as well.Paul

@paulhey, I'm sorry for not properly registering that you were running the beta version. Even so, I wonder whether this part of Jeff Shiner's post (#60 in the thread I linked) answers your question about whether you can force a sync:
The second issue is preventing 1Password from instantly syncing-in new changes that have been made. In this scenario a change that was made on a separate device will not show up in 1Password 4 until an explicit sync occurs. An explicit sync occurs whenever 1Password is unlocked, you switch vaults or make a change.
As a work-around to force a sync you can either lock/unlock 1Password or switch vaults.
Sorry if that's no help either!
Stephen

I am running 10.9 GM, with Dropbox 4.0.2b1
I do have multiple vaults at this point, and I have made a couple of changes and all sync thru Dropbox.
One thing I would like to note is the date in Finder on the keychain will not change that readily. However if you open the keychain and look at the contents you will see recent file changes and appropriate dates.
Looking at the contents
I am just wondering if you are looking for the changes via date and thats throwing you off or if you are looking for actual sync changes on another machine. You could also use 1PasswordAny http://support.agilebits.com/kb/syncing/how-to-open-your-1password-data-file-with-a-browser to check changes from Dropbox.com
As you can see by my screenshot I have multiple folder inside Dropbox for 1Password and I doubt the file - folder location is an issue.
Also note if its syncing to the iOS version of the app I and several others have reported issue with the just released version. Might that be a cause? Some of us were able to gain a proper sync by restarting the phone.
Please post any more observations on your end as you gain them. It should help the team to fix the issue.

@thightower
Thanks for this very elaborate description. One thing I would like to note is the date in Finder on the keychain will not change that readily.
What I didn’t know was the point that Finder doesn’t show the updated timestamp of files within the package.
So as far as I can see things seem to work properly.Keep up the great work! You guys rock!

Hi Paul,
I'm glad Tommy was able to help with the timestamps explanation and that in the end, everything is working for you. :)
